What you do is have everyone just shout out features (long ears, multiple arms) and make one by choosing a bunch of features.

You know... I tried making a robot once... the result was horrible T_T;; I can't draw mechanical things to save myself...

Well, make it an adorable one, with soft silver skin. Doesn't have to look mechanical.

Mmm, first think in your fav animal (my example, hares/rabbits/deers) then find something magic (mithology for example) and look if is possible make something fantastic with it (example: hare + deer´s horns = jackalope)
