BAD NEWS - Laptop broken *Update! #6

The day came sooner than I expected.
My laptop is officially broken, it keeps freezing and is stuck frozen till I force restart it, I tried to transfer all my artwork and wips and commission progress over to my USB but my laptop just froze halfway in, I don't think I'm going anywhere if my laptop keeps doing this.
I tried to run a virus scan but it also froze so I had to force shut down, idk what to do, I can't stream, I definitely can't draw, I can't do anything, I'm stressing out because I got commissions to do!
Commissions and patreon is my only source of income, and patreon income goes directly into my student loan so I have nothing else left, I do have enough money for food for a week, but after then I don't know..
I can't afford to get my laptop fixed and I can't afford to buy a new one, I can't afford anything apart from food, I feel like I have failed everyone and my commissioners..
I'm sorry everyone..

Somehow scanning my hardrive worked, or i think it does, my laptop is cooperating a little bit better now, so hopefully itll last till i manage to finish my queue so i can finally start saving up for a new laptop.

So I tried to run hard drive scan but it appears to be stuck at 12%, but that's not the worst part, the worst part is my laptop overheats till it shuts down at 12% which is awful because when I start it up again, it automatically restarts the hard drive scan so my laptop is literally stuck in a loop, there's nothing I can do, and no I can't get into safe mode because it immediately goes into deep drive scan.
I have no idea what to do anymore...

I've ran a complete reset on my laptop and taken two whole days updating it, from the day it was bought till recent updates, but it seems to have issues updating from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 because it failed and went back to windows 8.
so I'll try again to update to 8.1 and see if it works, if not, I'll try look into it and hopefully get help.
And no, no need to tell me to immediately update to windows 10, I will explain in later edits.

So after resetting my laptop, days of installing over 100+ updates, trying to update my laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, twice which was unsuccessfull, a whole night of waiting for my laptop to "Installing your previous versions of Windows." which resulted in my screen going black after logging into my laptop but my cursor still showing and working, I refreshed my laptop once again, so I wont even try to struggle to update to 8.1 anymore.
Now the reasons why I've turned down the suggestions of getting my laptop repaired, is because I do in fact need a new laptop, why repair this old one to keep struggling with broken keyboard, some keys not working, bad performance on my laptop, can't do big heavy things as better laptops can do, I used to draw my art in 3,000x3,000 pixels, but it was too big for my laptop to handle, saving took often minutes, with sai unexpectedly closing repeatedly, so I had to go down to 2,000x2,000 pixels, I can't record my streams at all, my wifi wireless card is worn out, I can't play my favorite game in high quality on my offs from drawing so I haven't gotten to play comfortable.
The main reason why I need a new laptop is because I want to give you guys more.
1. Higher quality/resolution art
2. Smoother, longer animations (which my old laptop can't handle because of so many big frames)
3. Record my streams so people who missed my streams can watch it.
4. Edit videos again
5. Higher quality streams
6. Be able to study 3D sculpturing in the future for 3D animation experiments.
I am tired of fighting with my laptop, so instead of getting it repaired, I'll use the money to add to the donation an anonymous person did, so I will be able to order a new laptop next week, then I'll set up everything and get ready, hopefully everything goes as planned, now shipping might take up to several weeks so I wont have any money to buy food, but I think I'll live till I get the new laptop, it'll be worth it!
I will then do commissions and save up money to repair my old laptop to use as a reserve laptop instead, it is bought in 2013, it's not too old, but also not too new, so it's time to move on to something better so I can give you guys better, that's my primary goal.
I have said this before and I feel like I keep repeating it so it doesn't sound as appreciating anymore, but I can't thank you guys enough for the support! You guys deserve better from me, and I will fight to give better!

I installed a new battery, 8 GB of RAM, a 250 GB solid state drive, a USB 3.0 card, and the lappy has a reversible Wacom touchscreen built in. This will be perfect for everyday use, art, and light game titles. I also have SAI and Photoshop pre-installed on it.
CPU :
7i : define the processor, an intel processor to be exact, intel split their consumer processor into 4 variation : i3, i5, i7, i9, usually, they define the power of the cpu, an i3 is for cheap and basic task computer, watching youtube, an i7 are the top processor for gaming and streaming, with usually 4 core count and more, and the i9 are the overkill extremly powerfull processor meant for rich people.
to recap :
i3 : good for your mom,
i5: budget gaming, you could probably draw an stream on it.
i7: top processor for gaming, and streaming your game
i9 : overkill
Optional read :
core count : most cpu today are multicore cpu, mean they are capable of doing multiple thing at the same time, so what do 'a computer can do multiple thing at the same time' even mean in the first place, well, lets take an exemple : you want to use photoshop and draw at the same time, if you had only a single core, your CPU would have to make photoshop work for a few millisecond, then at a certain point, it would have to record your screen , process it, and send it to your watcher as you stream, and then go back to photoshop, that process will make your app feel slower, stream more sligerish, and so on; now imagine you had 2 core, 1 core will handle photoshop while the second one will handle your stream, it as basic as that. (Note that these are simple explanation, it more complicated in reality)

You seem to know what is it, so I'll just pass on that
SSD :
there exist multiple variation of hard drive the most common are : HDD(hard drive disk), SSD(Solid state drive) , first first one is a mechanicall drive, the big one that have a motor in it, they have big capacity, and are usually slow. the second one is more like a usb stick, but a really fast usb stick, they have less space, cost a little(lot) more than HDD, and have a shorter life span.
USB 3.0 :
that where you stick your usb key, 3.0 is just very much faster than 2.0, (also, they are usually blue connector)
about what you should look at : if you only plan to draw and stream, not gaming (but a little bit )
look for an i5, as you only gonna stream drawing, you don't need lot of cpu power, they have enough core count to do photoshoping, streaming, and watching a youtube video at the same time
8gb of RAM should be nice, 16gb should feel more comfortable if you draw really BIG picture (more than 4k)
GPU : any new generation gpu should do, they are so powerfull nowadays than even the cheapest GTX will be enough.

By the way, did you consider building a pc instead of a laptop? It'll be much cheaper for the same specs.
And if you buy used components, it'll be even cheaper.
Or you can buy a really old cheap used laptop to keep working and collecting money for a new gaming laptop. (Drawing and streaming is not a heavy task, I use an 8 year old computer to draw and stream).
Plus I don't have space in my bedroom to have a stationary computer, so laptop would be ideal for me.
But yeah, if there is no space for a tower, laptop is an only option. Or a tablet pc like MS Surface
It seems complicated, it looks daunting, but once you ignore the fact that it's a bunch of bare circuit boards it becomes a ton easier.
(I could also build you one for the cost of parts and shipping, but shipping is crazy expensive so it is much more economical to build it yourself.)
So I'm not very interested in getting a desktop until I have my own place to live, I rather not build a desktop then struggle with bringing it with me to another country when I move in a few years.
It's also so much easier to have a laptop because I can take it with me anywhere, even on vacations, if I ever run out of money I can do commissions on my vacation.
When the laptop is booting: repeatedly press F8.
You should see a black screen with: "Safe mode"

This should give you access to hard drive and you can copy all essential files to pendrive.
Windows also should have recovery partition which can be used to reset the laptop to "factory settings" this WILL DELETE all your data
You need to stick to Lenovo, Dell, and ASUS for quality hardware.
Idk a out Lenovo, never heard of, and sell was pretty shitty last time I used it, and I've heard so many people complaining about issues with Asus so I don't know.
Getting a laptop is extremely difficult for a person who isn't a nasa computer expert cus there's so many different complains any suggestions from every directions, it's confusing, I don't know anymore.

3) I've owned 2 ASUS laptops for 5 years and the the worst thing to happen was a single DIMM failure.
I'm like "it's just a box on 4 wheels"
Same with laptops and PC's, as long as it works and meets my needs, I like it, I'm not into laptops like keeping myself updated all the time with new laptops and brands and stuff, as long as I have a laptop I just stick to it and forget about other laptops.

but so far I ran a hard disk scan on my laptop and now it seems to be cooperating a little better but I'm not able to login to youtube, it says "This site can’t be reached, accounts.youtube.com unexpectedly closed the connection."
and I do have internet, and i am able to watch youtube videos, this is on chrome.
when i fix 1 thing, another new problem occours, always, i swear my life sucks xD
And space wouldn't be much of a concern for long... I was waiting for a surctain 2in1 CPU/GPU architecture to get released before I try my hand at stuffing a computer and power supply all within a 30cal ammo can.

i think i have fixed the freezing problem for now after running a harddrive scan on my laptop
First of all, i think the Problem is Harddrive Related. It seems like typical "Bad sectors" which means, on some areas of your harddrive the magnetism is fading away. this progresses radially and cannot be stopped. if it is the case this means defenitly a loss of data if it wont be replaced.
Download the program "Crystal Disk info" as Standart edition which you can do here: https://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html
Run it, and Scan the Harddrive where windows is at (it should do it automatically, if not, select drive "C" if you have multiple Harddrives or partitions.)
In the top left it will say either Good or caution. This is a good first indicator, but this program is not 100% reliable.
If it says Caution please copy paste the info from the charts below. but this is already a bad sign.
If it says Good, we need to investigate further.
In the case it says good, download an run the program "seatools" from Seagate https://www.seagate.com/support/dow.....oads/seatools/
Run the Long basic test. if the test aborts crashes etc, its also a sign for a bad harddrive.
If your harddrive is damaged, you can still save most of the data, depending on how progressed the problem is.
Please let me know if you need further help, and what results you got.
hard drives are rather cheap , about 50 to 60 USD for a okay one. if you're willing to spend around 120usd buy a SSD harddrive. they are way faster and more reliable.
I can give you all the info you need to do all of this yourself properly if you want , links to the items to buy, and a step by step guide on what to do.
But we're over that phase, now it's trying to get windows 8.1 to my laptop, so far it has failed updating from windows 8 and now it's even failing to "restoring your previous versions of windows" which has taken hours the second time it happened
