Same here. You just have to make their frame bigger to add on more muscle. Of course, there's always a point where the musculature will look ridiculous no matter what.
I follow several of the more notorious hyper muscle artists here ( Sukiyo, Flammars, Schwartzgeist, ripped-saurian, etc), and it completely baffles me how they are consistently able to draw super exaggerated builds so well. I've used many of them as a reference for my own work and yet I still can't seem to get it right. The closest was the "MacrOtoh" pic I posted a couple months back.
And yeah, I don't like the really, really muscle balloon look that much myself. Looks like the character in question is a literal wad of flesh a lot of the time, which greatly kills their appeal factor for me. Thankfully everyone I've talked to so far agrees that even my "biggest" subject work (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20722726/) still isn't anywhere close to that "threshhold" so I still have room to exaggerate beyond that.
