Concerning Paypal (possible switching) & 2018 Prices
8 years ago
Hey, everyone!
Due to the revealing of Paypal's "new security regulation"(click the link to find out more info), i will be switching over to Square in the near future of 2018.
Before the full switch-over, I will be doing some test runs with those who are willing to be my guinea pigs for the smaller sketch commissions; I'll admit i've only ever used Square just once for a convention, and it was a relatively easy process. I'm hoping that the online process will be just as smooth.
(for those who don't know the difference between Square and Paypal, here's a handy chart explaining the differences made by the helpful hanazawa; A Simple Guide to PayPal Alternatives)
Now, as far as 2018 goes, I will be increasing the In-Stream Sketch Prices (but not by much).
Here are the prices that will take affect starting Jan 1st, 2018;
- Headshot (HS) - $12
- Bust (B) - $17
- Thigh-high (TH) - $22
- Full-body (FB) - $27
And color addition is $10
That's it! Thank y'all for reading, and I just want to remind peeps that these changes won't be in effect until January 1st, 2018!
Once more, if you guys have questions, comments, concerns, feel free to let me know in the comments down below!
Till next time,
Stay Spooky!

I've been receiving payments just fine and I use a Business account.
As they also have a business account, and this issue has affected 12 other artists (that they currently know of), it seems to be a bigger issue than just being flagged by the word filters.
In any case, I'll be keeping an eye out to see if any more people start experiencing this issue as well and start using different methods of taking payment, as is good practice anyways :P
https://commiss.io/
but also I haven't had any of these issues yet with paypal!!!
i don't label my invoices and i mark them as order processed/no shipping required immediately!
Like Bourbon. said, it could be keywords being flagged in PayPal's system, and for all we know, could be a legitimate new feature they're rolling out to stop the floods of chargebacks for goods from some of the... "less desirable" commissioners. (You know the ones I talk about) On the hand, it could also be a rollout to curb the "take it and run" people who get paid for a service (not necessarily art), and just NEVER produce.
I think I read somewhere (don't quote me on this, though), that if you mark the item as "shipped", it expedites the hold to 7 days (IF THE HOLD HAPPENS). Otherwise, I think money should "flow" just fine.
While it could be to stop exploitation of bad artists/commissioners, this "feature" is still harmful to the artists; Imagine waiting a month, on TOP of the first month before the invoice is paid, before you would be able to use that money in order to buy the materials you need to get started working on that person's commission.
That's an entire month where you wouldn't be able to pay bills or get supplies for that customers commission because Paypal is "holding" that money.
*This is an extreme example, where the artist depends on that literal day-to-day income flow and has not saved any money; Also applies to the expedited 7 days, just you'd only have to wait a week.
As for the holding itself, it's being speculated that this would become a regular thing with all transactions, and once more, that would be harmful.
I'm hoping it doesn't happen, however I will be proceeding to not keep Paypal as my sole source of transactions as i have been doing, to err on the side of caution.
