Faggot, my 14 year old tortie has been not quite well the past couple weeks and has a vet appointment next Tuesday. Below is tl;dr, so you can skip if you like, down to the bottom where I am open for commissions.
Not exactly sure what's wrong with her, but she's getting old, obviously.
She's had issues with one of her ears on and off where it would bother her for a few days, she'd clean it excessively and scratch at it. The ear is a bit dirty inside with wax buildup, whereas her other ear is fine and has never bothered her. I've used Zymox ear cleaner on her, and it seems to help with that - when I can actually get it in her ear. She hates it, and it's a struggle to apply it, never know how much of the liquid is actually getting inside. But her ear would stop bothering her for weeks even though it didn't look any cleaner, then after a while would start bothering her again.
More recently, however, I've noticed a significant decrease in her appetite and increasing instances of foamy vomit. Over the past couple weeks, she's lost a lot of weight, and where she used to eat every single kibble left out, even tried to eat Kittentits' food, about half of her food is still remaining every day. She used to weigh 16lbs when last weighed her before her appetite decreased, today she weighs 11. It's hard to tell by looking at her that she lost any weight, because she's still very round, but I could tell she was getting lighter, since I carry her around a lot. She likes riding on my shoulder. Also while she often sleeps on the back of my chair while I'm working, lately I've been hearing her stomach gurgling, which I've never heard it do before. Sometimes her poops have been dry, and there have been instances where she's had dingleberries and dropped them on the carpet or dragged her butt on the carpet, so I suspected perhaps intestinal issues, probably a symptom of something bigger.
Researching her symptoms, I figured either since her ear is bothering her again, perhaps it's causing her jaw to become sore, which makes it unpleasant to eat, and therefore is losing weight and throwing up bile like cats do when their tummy is empty, or it's something more serious like a kidney issue and isn't ear related at all. I hope that it isn't kidney related, because that is chronic and eventually fatal (though with proper care, a cat with kidney disease can live comfortably for many more years before total failure).
Either way, as an elderly cat, she'll need geriatric tests done at the vet next Tues, and I have no idea how much any of that is going to cost, but since I gather it includes bloodwork and xrays, it's probably not cheap.
So, commissions. They're open. Any kind of commission. Preferably I'd like to do more detailed larger scenes if possible, since I like painting and coloring the most, but at the moment, any little bit helps. There's no slot limit, but I'd prefer if anybody who wishes to get a commission does so before next Tuesday, as that is when I will need to pay for the appointment.
Smaller commissions like sketches (colored or monochrome) or a flat colored wingit or two, can be done this weekend, most likely. Any larger works will be worked on throughout December. Any holiday related piece or gift can most definitely be done before Christmas.
If you want a commission but won't be able to pay before Tuesday, that's completely fine. We have money in savings if needed, but that will need to be replenished if we need to use it.
Please see my website for the types of commissions that I offer, prices, and how to contact me:
