Opening a store for original art soon! Also ramblings.

For those who are interested, I will be opening a store on Tuesday to start selling my original Inktober drawings and possibly other original pieces in the future :)! If that's something that interests you stay tuned!
In other news - it's December folks! I have a pretty packed planning for the coming weeks as I'm sure most people have. It is also the closing month, and that's usually the time when I start reflecting on the past year. It's been a rollercoaster ride for me that's for sure - three moves, of which one cross-country, I hit probably my deepest low earlier in the year and have fought my way back up over the summer. Right now I can finally say with confidence that I'm doing okay. My last personal piece was a blast and was immensely positively received on a few of my platforms which has been a huge boost to my confidence and motivation. I'm starting to be more structured and making an attempt to be on top of things, and to be positive. Always moving forward.
It's also been a year that's really driven home for me how much the art community means to me, both the artists and the appreciators, and my friends among them. There is so much good and beauty and amazing and inspiring things happening all the time if you pay attention, and I have made an effort to start paying attention. If there's anything this year has taught me, it's that negativity begets negativity - and more importantly that the opposite is true too. If you strive to be even the smallest positive influence in a community, or in a few people's lives, or even the life of just one person; that matters. Kindness and support have a way of paying themselves forward and finding their way back to you, as I have noticed more and more in the past months.
Don't use the bitterness, anger, judgement or misery of others as a justification for your own. You can choose to let it stop with you. I will certainly try at least.

I wholeheartedly agreee with your second paragraph. Its exactly the same reason why the community means so much to me too. I am super proud and happy that all of us have been able to help each other as much as we did. It's a very important part to my life and I want to help to keep it this way too.
Let's look forward to another year full of success and happiness and let's help eachother to get there as much as we can! I'm excited!!
I'm also glad to count you among my friends, you're a wonderfully kind person. It's a bit early for the well-wishes but I hope you'll have an awesome end of the year with lots of excellent cheese ;3.
And thank you so much!
You are such a stellar artist Caraid! You bring so much inspration to many creative minds in this community! Your postive attitude alone is quite insprational! I really love seeing your art each one is brilliant masterpiece of its own!
I wish you nothing but the best going into this new year, please never stop being amazing!
Thank you so much for that! <3 ;;
I was driving to a little furry con down blackwood forest when I had to stop and check my map. then I found out the car's battery died beyond any help. it was right after closing hours, too, and the car dealer around the corner had no batteries on tab... or couldn't sell anymore for the cashier being closed, I forgot.
now I was parking before a pizza service run by a family from persia. they agreed to help me out and their driver got me to a construction market where I bought a new battery. they didn't want anythign back for it, not even gas money.
one explained it like this: "See, now we helped you. and you will help someone out for free one day. and they will help someone else. and one day, when I need help, the circle closes and someone will help me. this is how it works."
I like that philosophy, and so I'm helping random people who are lost or something, for nothing but a handshake.
if we all acted like this, life would be better.
Well said about the community aspect! Yeah surviving in the internet really needs some skills supercharged, especially awareness of yourself and your sourroundings. I mean you got everything in one big bowl: The negativity and the positivity. It's up to YOU to choose which one you want to stick to and support. I feel it's crucial to always watch out for opportunities and not get eaten up by the spread of negativity of others. The Good sides and the bad sides of something were never that close together.
If you really want to (maybe, he's not for everyone) get supercharged on motivation for creatives and how to use social media as a tool, I'd suggest checking out GaryVee. Hearing that guy speak makes you wanna do shit, he's also telling you how for the most part ;D
I'm also looking forward to a super awesome next year! :) Cheers.
Quite right, it's easy to get consumed by negativity if you let it. Thanks for the suggestion! I've never heard of the guy but I'll check it out :).
I pretty much feel the same about this year. And Negativity and stuff.
Glad to see that you think the same way. And by the way thank you for to positive messages or advices you always give, to me or other artists ;)
Have a super end of year and I will for sure check out your original art shop !
You too! <3
Welcome to the club of pay it forward <3
Hopefully will have a chance to meet you convention sometime!
And that's very kind of you to say <3. Thanks!
The amazing art this community produces is my biggest motivator. But the art itself would not exist without the amazing people behind said art, both the creators and the fans. And you are definitely one of those people.
Best of luck with your practice!
You can send them to me on Telegram, or send me a note on FA. Much appreciated either way!
And bear in mind that I am not advocating being a doormat. You should not be kind to people regardless of how they treat you, and you should not be giving all of yourself to someone who is obviously not intent on giving back to you. Do what you must for the sake of self-preservation and try to take measures to ensure people won't take advantage of you. Those people who didn't care that you were gone for a year, for example? I'd cut contact with them. You can't make people care about you, they're not worth your attention. I'm sure there are people in your life right now and in your future who are much more deserving of it.
But yeah that's basically what I did. I went and contacted a few people from before and the ones I've gotten less than stellar responses from I just didn't bother going back to. I tend to lean towards a quote from a Robin Williams movie anymore on that sort of stuff, "I used to think the worst thing in life is to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone.”
But the one thing I can at least rely on and go back to is the relationship that I do have that recently went past 10 years. Because if it wasn't for him I don't know where I'd be.
Those last sentence you said... i can only approve them and still even if people know this, it's always great to read those things again because it motivates a lot.
Another thing thats really great to see is that you indeed respond to the comments placed beneath something so personal.
Most of the time artists rarely respond and who can blame them... but it's really nice to see you take that time :)
Also nice to hear about that trad-art shop?
How about the idea with the european shop for your prints?
Still waiting for that to air so i can buy some of those...
I've actually looked around for some options, and I may be able to offer prints via a UK-based printer but they do not have a gallery site. People in Europe would simply have to contact me personally, tell me which piece they would like and at what size and I could place the order for them. It's not ideal, but it's the best option I've managed to find.
I will keep that in mind if i want something hanging on my wall ^^
Good on you Cariad. You're art has been awesome, I have enjoyed watching in streams (though I often stay quiet cause I use these streams to motivate myself to do work~), and you are a very motivating idol of an artist.
Keep it up, next year is new, and enjoy it~
