I "JUST" started testing out Patreon, mind you, and suddenly they decide that Patrons should be hit with fees. xD
Given, I'm not a big name there, but considering the kind of fall out that is happening NOW, I imagine I'll end up closing this thing down sooner than I had thought, if the platform ITSELF kills interest in a Patreon page before it even has a chance to grow. I dunno. I guess I need to just draw more commishes for you guys, and faster, too. =3=
Guess I'll have to find an alternative if this really does hurt Patreon as much as I think it will. Not sure if Ko-Fi or any other site would offer the same kind of functional support, though.

They are lowering the fees. Now it´s only 5%, before it was 5+5%.

Is that their response to the outrage? Also, I think it was less the amount, and more that it was "per patreon" rather than a single flat rate.

people are making this a way bigger deal than it is, it mostly discourages the kind of donations that would be covered by a ko-fi. people just outrage because this came out of nowhere and was so sudden

I'd say the reaction/backlash may very well be the worst part about all this.

I hope that the reaction to this is indeed more open commissions. One of the big frustrations I had with Patreon was how it choked the availability of commission slots behind paywall boundaries.

Depends. The only thing I'm offering is simple sketches and large scale images + wallpapers. xD I don't see a reason to make commissions closed to Patreon sponsors.

I can imagine. Oh well, may not even keep it going, at this rate. I have a Ko-Fi and I am trying to stream more often now, anyway.
