We truly are living in the future of sci-fi's yesterday.

In short, this video is talking about a new kind of cancer treatment called CAR-T. I mean, the C word has been such a curse word for generations. Why, it's very likely that most everyone has known someone (a friend, associate, loved one...even self) who has had to fight cancer with traditional medical practices. And now...there may be something that can truly eradicate cancer from ever being a threat, again.
At the end of the video, however, they have to report that one potential side effect is a lethal swelling of the brain. A bit rare of a side effect. So, this isn't quite the Aspirin of cancer eradication, just yet. But, dang...did it ever seem like cancer would be a permanent killer in life. (And the early price tag. But, what is life worth, after all?)
Still...there is a tiny thought that screams 'Beware the potentials of Raccoon City.' (Resident Evil plot, BTW.)

Ahhh...but hover cars that utilize those Drone style quad blades may become a reality. That's a project to keep an eye on.
My general feelings is that Humanity tends to jump too quickly into things. Perhaps cautious in the earliest stages. But once we think that we've got a hang for things, then the real problems can come in when everyone is trying to go as far as they can with things. Reminds me of one particular Outer Limits warning about wildly altering our core DNA. (Can't figure out the name of the episode. Besides, probably been blocked.) Aliens kidnap a few Humans from Earth and they think that they are being taken to a remote planet. In reality, they come back to a dead Earth and find a monument to the foolish acts of Humanity, changing around DNA too much. Near this tomb stone is some kind of Bird Human hybrid's bones...as if this person was paying memorial when he or she simply died. The tomb states that after the careless altering of DNA, the whole race simply lost the ability to reproduce, as the damage was too extensive. I seem to remember that it not only wound up sterilizing the ones whom altered too much, but even created some kind of super virus. Sci-fi is great for exploring the potential 'what if' notions.
Still...I foresee DNA altering as opening up the road to many things. The replacement of plastic surgery and other cosmetic medical practices. The curing for many diseases that are inherent to family lines. (Like cancer and such. Even I suffer from a handed down line of issues that DNA altering could maybe fix.) Improvements to various features. (Like a safer version of steroids to create super strong Humans. Brain enhancements to create super smart people. (Take Star Trek's Khan as a warning to that one.) Heh...more limbs. Who knows what could be conceived of.) Hollywood could pay actors to bio-engineer themselves into becoming the perfect character for the role. (Be it human/animal/alien/etc. An alternative to a CG actor.) Many other benefits. Even the arrival of true Furries. (Much like a tiny handful of people have fought to achieve via traditional cosmetic surgeries.) It's as wondrous as it is terrifying.
