Yeah, it sucks to be shadowblocked. Have had it happen to me a couple of times. I only figured out why in one of the cases due to the artist's profile page revealing some information.

I can't agree with you more on this tho! The fact that they never even want to consider the blocked person's perspective on whatever they might have taken as a just cause to just shut the doors on the blocked is sad.

Some of these people are saying one thing (tolerance and acceptance) and acting completely differently than what they preach (blocking people without even knowing them) which is why I made this journal. It's blatant hypocrisy.

It very much is in some cases. Heh, I guess we can just hope that they open their eyes and ears at some point to the hypocrisy.
But, for now I guess we just gotta deal with it.

honestly, I think that FA should implement some kind of system where if you block someone you either select from a dropdown menu and a text box to explain (that way people can't just leave a " . " in the box when they block, they have to select from a few options) so that people who do get blocked know why the fuck they were... I was shadowblocked by someone and I had no fucking clue why... they had a cute character went to go favorite and "you cannot favorite art from a user who has blocked you" and i'm like wtf... I don't even fucking know you...

That would help, yes. Similar to a troubleshooting service.
Sadly I doubt that will ever be implemented, but I like the idea.

Some people are just Jack asses. Same happens to me sometimes, although the cold shoulder happens more and they don't even tell me what the hell is wrong or what I did to deserve it. Pisses me off.

I agree to this hugely. I learned from my mistake and and wish to fix that. I honestly don't know why I take words from other people for granted and it is true, someone does need to implement a reason system for blocking someone.

It sucks because the two artists that I've found to have blocked me are really good at their craft and I've wanted to commission them long before I see that they would rather ignore their problems than confront them.

They tend to forget that in the end it's a democracy, because today you can just narrow your vision to touch only the political view you agree with. some peoples need a thicker skin. Shadow blocking and ghosting are both awful. I've had it happen to me twice, and both times it was just like "wut? I don't even know what I did!"

Dude, Meesh blocked me without a reason to, I only favourite their submission that's it, I never even social with them. I went to go favourite a pic from them and it notified me that they have me blocked. Like wtf xD someone had a bad day I guess lol.

I'm not blocking you (IIRC, it's against the rules to message and immediately block someone, something about harassment and abuse of site features), but I can guess why someone might block you and anyone else in this thread who's complaining about preemptive blocks. We could discuss the paradox of tolerance and probably find specific likely reasons in your gallery and/or faves, some reasons better than others, but that's missing the point. The point is that blocking is a personal choice not to interact, and it's 100% the blocker's prerogative. Maybe they blocked you because of politics (some extremes of which are literally dehumanizing and have no place in civilized society; human rights aren't up for debate!), or maybe they just didn't like your art, or maybe they stumbled across some really badly phrased comment you might've made out of frustration, or maybe they've been subjected to so much harassment that they're preemptively blocking anyone they encounter who fails their vibe check. It doesn't matter. You're not telling them anything anymore, and no one here has the personal obligation to listen to you (except I guess I kinda have the obligation if you reply to me because I'm tacitly soliciting that by replying to your old journal here).

The people who've blocked you are not attacking you. They're blocking you so they can more easily coexist on the same platform. Tolerance doesn't require personal interaction. They're not denying you impersonal goods or services from their public business or government office. They don't have to follow your personal rules for blocking. They don't even have to be right. You have no right to their eyes or ears.

Edit: Maybe they found you via something like your comments on this picture with feral + anthro sex and vore <https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26005020/>;, which is at least three things that lots of people get visibly upset about, regardless of political persuasion or personal interests. (Yes, some people who are interested in that got offended too.)
