What do you recommend for tablets?

My cousin and I want to draw digitally. I was thinking of getting him a tablet for Christmas, but I'm not sure what to get him. Definitely not a high end tablet because I have to shop for others but something that will last him for a few years. Any recommendations?
Wacom tablets tend to rarely have issues with programs and their pens don't have batteries, which is good if charging or replacable batteries are a concern.
