The BEST unexpected Christmas present: My health

Thank you to all for the Watches, Favourites and great comments!
First off - Merry Christmas Everyone!
I woke up this morning to one the nicest gifts I could have ever hoped for - feeling almost normal again. Just a few hours after releasing the last Paw-Post, I started feeling really ill. Before bed, I was throwing up and so weak that showering was a challenge. After a night of tossing and turning with little sleep, I woke up and basically limped to the bathroom to throw up some more. >_<
I spent the 23rd largely in bed. Cancelled a visit from my Dad for obvious reasons. What I had seemed like food poisoning because I had something like it about 15 years ago. It not only makes you sick to your stomach, it makes your every muscle hurt, and zaps you of your strength. Imagine feeling so weak that lifting up a mug seems like a Olympic task. Even my eyes hurt, so keeping them open to look at things was a strain.
Yesterday was a little better than the 23rd, but still spent it mostly in bed, and not really eating much. And I can't help but feel completely useless as my mate is still making hurried preparations for Christmas that I can't help with.
So when I woke up this morning feeling almost back to normal, you can imagine just how nice a gift that was. And I see nature dumped about 8" of snow on us too... oi. Well, at least I think I can manage shovelling again.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season, and for godsake, don't eat anything the least bit questionable. O_O Cheers!
FA+

Cheers~!
Have a merry christmas man, and don't work too hard!
Hope you get back to 100% real soon!
And yup - getting steadily better. :)
But yeah, in the city, bylaws state that a citizen is responsible for clearing the sidewalk in front of their property within 48 hours of snow cover if the city has not yet gotten to it. Yet.... maybe 10% of people actually do it. They're always whining they have no funds in the city - good gods, they could make a killing in the winter just going around once a week and repeat-fining people for being lazy.
Interesting and makes sense, and yeah exactly! I remember back when I was a kid I went around our neighborhood and mowed lawns for $20 bucks each in the spring and summer, they were small quarter acre lawns I could mow with a push mower and in like 15 minutes or so. I made good money doing that, if I was in your neighborhood and a little younger I would shovel snow, that would be a great way to make some spending money! Save enough to invest in a snow blower, cut down time, energy, and be able to do more houses in a day, the RoE would come quickly!
But yeah I'm glad you're feeling much better!
You know what's odd? You don't see kids offering to shovel driveways anymore. Like... EVER. The only times I've ever seen it, both guys were older than me (and I'm 42). I'd get a snowblower if I had a place to put it, but no garage, and a very narrow path next to the house means anything but a teeeeeny little one would be tricky. Ah well - the shovelling is a good work out most of the time. :P
Live on the road, which means I eat out of truck stops almost exclusively. And some of those places, likes or not, have some fairly questionable sanitation practices.
I've gotten so used to it, that I keep a bucket in my truck for just that purpose. Also, my constitution has become used to it to the point, where my body just pretty much treats it like the common cold, anymore. :P
Note to the wise: Food poisoning? Even though you may not feel like eating or drinking anything, drink loads of ice water. Throw it back up and drink more, and keep drinking it. It feels TONS better than the dry heaves, and it helps flush whatever it is out of your system. And it helps prevent dehydration, which is what makes you so weak when you get food poisoning.
Merry Christmas, all!
And good advice - I did try to drink as much as I could, but that's a good point about the tons better than dry heaves bit. Thank you for the sage advice sir. :) Merry Christmas to you as well!
I drink it down by the 64-ounce mug when I get sick. I usually start feeling myself again in under 24 hours.
All the best to you and yours, ToeClaws. *snug*
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope you enjoy the time with your loved ones.
I heard webbypaws are a good medicine against such *wiggles mine on you* :3
Good to hear you're on the way to getting steadily better :3
Still a nice and merrymurry christmas for you and your people over there! Onwards to a new year with more paw-postsss!
I hope you're surrounded by loved ones and that you're at peace. <3
*hugs*
But Barefootstallion already said the best advice possible. Drink all that water and then drink some more!
Merry Christmas to you and all of yours as well, my dear friend. ^..^
And yar, now it's all gone; actually felt like having a coffee this morning and eating a normal sized meal! :D
If you did, you need to call your Dr. and report it so they can map the outbreak.
Take care!
Dear gawds, dradon-mutt. You are half a bottle of rum away from an intervention! Don't make me drive down there to London and take you to a Brazilian Steak House.
(also, my irreverent regards to your family, I hope that Boxing Day dinner is not nearly as exciting as the last few days!)
And thanks, heh - at my mother's now in Port Colborne.
