I'm a depressed loner who feels worthless.....Can you please give me a commission for free? Or at least a discount? PLEASE?!

This is the opposite of that, an artist linking me to their page and begging for customers to pay them for art.

Ahhh, I see. You know, this begging reminds me of when I was also a begger, but of a different sort. Back when Burning Crusade was released, I used to beg players for gold. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't XD It even got me kicked out of a guild hahahaha Yeah, I can understand that both are really annoying.

I had already 3-4 Messages of that kind last year.
Fucking annoying as hell. It's even worse on DeviantArt. Almost weekly I get messages to "donate" dA points or money to certain people so they can afford this or that.
I mean really? Do they have no self-respect at all? I wouldn't even try to get people to donate to me even if I would end up on the street. I even have problems asking people to lend me money for a week or a month.

I've only ever been contacted in such a way once, though it was more someone else linking me to their friends profile and asking me to commission then, seriously weirded me out, I didn't even check their profile, such was the bad taste left in my mouth.

Yeah, that's weird... I've certainly had people asking if I want to commission them. It's jarring. And likely if I wanted some art I'd already be getting it!

Once someone told me i should beg to commissioners. Luckily i found this advice really weird and i didnt make fool of myself. XD
Sorry it happens with you and other people. That's the other side what im in but i totally get you.

I'm genuinely tempted to tell them that they should give me art for free and I'd post it and give them exposure, just to give them the other awkward side of that sort of thing. Except I'd feel bad about even asking that since some people badger artists with that mess, and I suspect that some folks might take me up on that and I'd feel horrid about taking advantage of anyone like that.

You want a commission, money is the key. Capitalism works for a reason.

I had this happen to me a couple of times, the artists in question were not particularly good either

I will admit i got swayed by this exactly once....luckly or unluckly, i have yet to receive that commission ^^; (wasn't to much so i haven't tried to kill them over it) but im never commissioning them ever again, and anyone else that tries to do that to me will get a swift block after a quality piss off X3

I agree, specially worse on Dumblr, when you get people signal boosting all kinds of artists who seem to be each one in worse tragedy and need to get emergency commissions...

I rather stop bothering offering commissions if no one buys from me than appealing to pity.

Just ignored the message and moved on with my day each time.

ergh, I definitely had that before. I also had random artists Noting me about discounts they suddenly offer to me. It felt cheap like receiving junk mail.
