agreed on the nude, in whatever flavor is available. it just helps to get the markings right. NSFW is slightly more useful, esp on men bits , for much the same reason; but it's pretty minor in comparison to having a clear reference to what the devil is going on, fur pattern-wise (Assuming no unusual features associated with private parts; in that case, they certainly ought to be in the main ref, as a defining characteristic).

besides, genitals and faces are what small inset windows do well - close ups of detail areas XD - and can be added easily later. making it clear that someone does not have yet another heart-butt is much more important. XD

I’d say that SFW nude and offer Chibi outfits to the one that gets the character would be best. I hope I made sense with my comment.
