Swearing in casual conversation.

First and foremost I am not being holier than than thou here, when I get angry at something (usually something trivial like a video game) I have used the "S" and "F" words. We as people get angry, and letting it out IS helpful psychologically. I however don't shout these words at the top of my lungs. When my parents are home I would do it quietly and if they are not I don't do it crazy loud either.
I am mainly talking about are the people who just drop the these swear words in casual conversation. Despite what Patrick on Spongebob says these words are not sentence enhancers. =P
I know that there are people who use the "F" word like it's a casual adjective for EVERYTHING. Why is this okay? Now some might be inclined to say "well if the word is said all the time then doesn't that make it less bad?" Try using the "N" word in causal conversation and see how that goes. Now there is a HUGE difference between the two words, one is a very derogatory term that was used in a hurtful way for years and the other is just a swear word. Just because the "F" isn't a derogatory term doesn't mean that it should be treated like a word that can just be tossed about.
Really it's not even a case of "what if there were children around" thing, it's more a case that some people just don't want to hear that crap. It makes the swearing person seem like a child who doesn't know what else to say so they simply put these swears wherever they want. It just seems so wrong when you are out and about and you hear someone use the "F" or "S" word when they are on their cell phone. But I guess if you use the words all the time indiscriminately you are incapable of censoring yourself when you really should.
Maybe I am old fashioned and modern society is treating these words less seriously. That seems to be how the modern generation is though. >_>

I swear when it fits the conversation, not just because I like the words or like profanities themselves. And I think it's the latter that bugs you, correct?
I swear all the fuckin' time! Just because YOU don't see them as sentence enhancers it doesn't mean they aren't to some people. Personally, I use them simply for emphasis when I'm passionate about something, or sometimes to fill out the empty space while I collect my thoughts together. It's just habit by this point, since I grew up in a public school where pretty much everyone tossed swear words around like they were cheap tricks I'm just used to it. I can talk without them if need be, like if I'm around children or in a professional environment, but when I'm in an environment I trust I just say them without thinking.
If you get so geniunely annoyed by someone simply saying a word, I'd say you need to look within yourself and ask why it hurts you so. You said it yourself, it's just a swear word. A collection of lettors that is literally only wrong to say because some dickbags 2000 years ago or so said it was. I'm not saying you have to start f'ing and blinding all over the place, but perhaps respect individual liberties to say whatever the fuck we feel like?
I can't speak for everyone, but I'm sure as hell not gonna censor myself because you can't handle hearing certain waveforms or reading certain letter configurations, that's your problem to deal with. Whether you get annoyed at it or not, people are going to swear. So you have two options from here: Either let it keep annoying you and cause stress until you die, or let it go and live a life free of judgement. I know which I'd prefer, but I'll leave it up to you :P
Holy shit, it's like I wrote that sentence.
I never do it when I talk in German, but whenever I talk with friends in english, over voice, it just kinda happens all the time without me even wanting to do it.
I can see why it's annoying to some, and I try to not do it when talking to people who don't like it because of it.
It might be, quite literally, because a lot of them either were or grew up with sailors.
Around these parts I'm pretty restrained, I don't really use profanity at all, even seldom in sexual context.
Posting anonymously on a place like 4chan's /v/ board, I match their casual level of profanity a bit since that's just how words roll over there.
I wouldn't say words carry less weight than they used to, but the words which carry weight change over time. Things frowned upon decades ago are just commonplace now, but people are still expected to conduct themselves in a professional way.
Although if you saw how profane one of my colleagues at work is, you'd be shocked how casually he uses some of the worst words. :P
