Extended Thoughts on: Eddie "The Ruffian" Clyde/Ellie Equus

General
My writing for this was exponential… stop calling me a nerd, I can explain. I didn’t have much work done on this for the first week, which gave me guilt to no end. Then I’d get two stages done, then five, then ten… until I finished more than a third of it in a single sitting. Go figure.
I also did a lot of research into horses and horse anatomy, so much so that I’m concerned it bogs the character down. Hopefully it’s somewhat decipherable!
Here is a laundry list of ‘cool’ trivia:
- I am SO THRILLED with Eddie’s name. I put 3 different horse references in it: Eddie (Mr. Ed, the talking horse), The Ruffian (a famous racehorse) Clyde (taken from the Clydesdale breed). The other names aren’t as interesting: Donoghue was a race jockey, and Uma means horse in Japanese. And of course, Equus is based on the book/play.
- I had to sneak in a Hot Fuzz reference. I just HAD to.
- Horses actually can get diabetes, so Ellie’s excuse has a bit of merit.
- There’s a bit of cop slang thrown in, but not as much as I’d like.
- I am so pissed that I couldn’t implement nine pocket ice horse boots into the character. It’s one of my greatest regrets.
- Don’t search up ‘horse masturbation’ on Bing. Just… don’t. A shout out to Fenoxo’s CoC for helping me with how a centaur would pleasure herself.
- The lordosis reflex is when an animal curves their back during either estrus or sex.
- I’m not sure if anaphrodesiacs work on horses, but I assume they do.
- Feathering is the super fluffy hair horses grow around their hooves.
- Ellie is not JRHNBR. Sorry to disappoint.
