Considering rewriting Gaidens of Monstrum

I keep telling mysef to go back to my book and finish it, but I keep deciding against it. Today I ended up wondering... what if it's because I'm just not happy with the book. Why does a race of giant ten-foot rats exist in that world? Why do ANY of those species exist? I'm tempted to outright do it over. Give al my species a reason for existence, more backstory, more fleshing out and such. I'm not dead set on this yet, but it is something I've started considering today. Anyone have any input?
