1996-2016 was mostly ok for me.

nothing dramatic has changed, but subjectively it feels good to my mind that its no longer 2017.
i don't know if what died in 1980 will ever live in what is called the u.s. again,
but the rest of the world is realizing it can lead itself just fine,
and i have always found its diversity encouraging.

nothing of the future is cast in concrete, and i wish i could live long enough to see more of it,
or somehow skip ahead a few decades.

what comes after the ecopocalypse i'd like to see, or what happens instead if it is somehow avoided.

well good things can happen, and won't know if they will until they do.

logic is real. consideration and logic together can make things better. lack of either makes them worse.
and so that's up to all of us. as a statistic. nothing to beat ourselves over the head over individually.

it just all adds together however it does. we really can't afford to not think about what we're doing though is all.

2017 was an incredible bummer for me too because of Reasons. I've made peace with the ecopocalypse but not with the people responsible.

I honestly don't think we'll ever see the ecopocalypse. I have a feeling we'll see an actual apocalypse long before then. Nuclear Winter will do wonders to reverse the damage of global warming...

Yeah I'm at the bottom of PA and it's been just hovering around freezing at this point. Only reason I want it to get as cold as it was again is to help kill off the ticks and such.

Yeah last year was horrible here. Along with I'm right by the woods and I take my dog to the park a lot. So even with some kind of treatment he gets them. And since his coat is so thick it's hard to find them. x.x

It doesn't look possible this year, as I just started a new job after the new year. I've wanted to go every year since ANE's inception and have never been!

Absolutely! I'm planning to move out of Pittsburgh in the next few months, but that won't stop me from attending. AC is always a good time.

Year so far on my end at least had a really REALLY rough start and it's been kind of a drag since then.

I can enjoy some cold and snow and such for maybe a few weeks but after that I want the winter to be OVER. When it teases you with spring for two months before it finally gets bright and warm, that's what drives me kookoo!

That's why I laugh when things from the 80s or 90s pop up or come back. It's like everyone is realizing things were better back then. ^^;

The funny thing is, I wasn't big into the 90s when it was happening. I was listening to the oldies station! XD I still don't like Nirvana. I can really appreciate the wide scope of music now, though.

Where on the east coast? I'm in Connecticut. It wasn't TERRIBLE. Like, I didn't lose power for two weeks and have to sleep in a school gymnasium, but man, it got pretty cold! At least it's not going to get to -10 something again.

yeah, i feel the the same way, i feel like i wasted the last 10 or some years of my life doing really nothing, wished i done something more productive with my time.

I live in maryland. yeah, it was not as terrible as some other parts on the east coast have had it, but still 20 degrees during the day and in the low teens at night is not a pleasant thing to deal with.

The '90s were so much better than this decade has been. Those were such simpler times. I wish I could go back to high school to do what I wish I did. There are already major fuck-ups in the world this year.

Bring back 80's music (Didn't like the 90's music). So far things are a bit thin, but moving forward, and yes this year started with the pedal to the metal in terms of pacing. Weather-wise it's been endless summer in L.A. 60'S AND 70'S AND THE OCCASIONAL 80. temperature wise, and sunny (which means more drought, and more flames), but in general it's been a very very mild and rain-less winter here in SoCal.

My roomate was just in the area and his reporting to me about the temps made my teeth gnash. I'm worried about all of CA being on fire though.

I spent the Christmas Holiday in Northern California, Santa Rosa to be exact, and two and a half houses at the end of my brother's street burned down, and he spent two days sitting on the roof of his house with a hose, spraying floating embers. Now, having grown up in California, I am used to blackened hillsides, from grass fires, and I have seen burnt forests in the past, but seeing such widespread suburban devastation was new. Devastation from war, in the mind's eye comes across as black and white, due to years of looking at photos from the World Wars, but what was so surprising, was oddly how colorful the devastation was in person. Brick Chimneys, brilliant rust orange cars, the small pieces of peach colored stucco and light colored trim bordering the corners of the bare concrete pads and piles of gray and black ash, and the glittering bits of brass and chrome, and glass around the debris piles and the brilliant green of the lawns, unburned due to the homeowners turning on the sprinklers in an attempt to save the properties. It was kind of grimly fascination, but two months after the fire, according to my brother, half the people were getting ready to rebuild, and the other half were trying to sell the plots off. But seeing all this devastation that spread in a cone back several miles over the hild beyond, it was rather impressive, but on one of those, "Wow, that's fucked up" sort of ways.

Yeep, NoVa here and it's killer cold. I don't like leaving the house at all. >.<
January has been pretty slow so far, but that's just because my life is just a waiting game now. Waiting on a car, the new semester, on job applications and stuff like that... At an awkward point in my life right now but it's gonna be sooo worth it. :^)

First three weeks, not so good, had a dog escape the yard due to panic caused by new years fireworks and had to have a cat euthanized due to mouth cancer. Week that just ended, doing better, dog was finally brought in to the humane shelter where we reclaimed him and now his sister isn't all depressed by his absence! So, back to neutral I guess? Will have to see how things go going forward. West coast here, weather can't decide whether to be comparatively warm and rainy or cold and windy!

Losing and putting down animals is the absolute worst. I am buckets of tears even if they are 90 amillion in ___-years and are ready to go. Glad the dog came back safe.

well lets see..so far this year i caught myself some sort of flu that made me collapse twice on the way to the bathroom...i don't even remember falling down..just waking up on the floor.
i want to wake up back in the 80's..be a kid again..cartoons were better..toys were better..economy was better..and the country wasn't being run by a 2 year old with nuclear capabilities.

The flu can be some bullshit. The strain they were banking on ended up not being the big one this season so early flu shots were ineffective. D'OH!!! I'm praying to the Taoist energy of Balance that we swing in the opposite direction before we all end up irradiated fritters.

I wish I have more time to draw but well with the marriage plans if all turns well.

I'll take your winter. It's Summer here and yesterday it was 42 degrees celcius. Which according to the web is 107.6 farenheit. I work in a garden nursery and suffered mild heat exhaustion :D My body felt like it was on fire, massive headaches and slept most of the afternoon, and through our D&D session.
But apart from that... Same stuff, different year, here. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing, haha.
