Please don't give up :( You have so much going for you

Maybe instead of forcing yourself into something you don't enjoy but take a step back and take a breather.

I know I'm not the best at advise or talking about this sort of sensitive stuff but I really loved your art a lot and I'd be sad to see you give up completely.

I've seen people take long hiatus' to get back on their feet. You shouldn't worry about how long it'll take to feel better and rather focus on actually feeling better about it all. If that makes sense.

it does. its hard to do since the ONLY thing I do is art. No friends. no other hobbies. Don't go out. Don't do anything else.

It is extremely important to get out of your house and do something except drawing. You won't stop being miserable if you are locked in the same place doing the same thing.

I second Lady-T. I myself am taking a break from art to make mods for Starbound and ZDoom, to make some progress on my RPG in RPG Maker 2003, and to just have time for me. I may not post a lot of art myself, but people enjoy what I make when I make it.

Do you honestly want to talk and see what we can do to get you to the point where you feel like you are improving? Because you have a lot of these moments. I really would like to help but it is quite difficult when you give me a bunch of " I don't know" responses. Putting yourself down as a response also makes it hard for me to continue the conversation so that I may help.

People here care about you and your works. People want to help in what ways they can. But that requires you to ask; it requires you to reach out.

Please, stop putting yourself down so much. You don’t have potential; you have skill. You may not like how your pieces come out, but many do. Myself included. Take a deep breath and know people love your works and people care about you.

Well, let's try a few things then. Why don't you do some still life studies? Gives you a good sense for color and lighting :)

That is a great start! Draw even just a coffee mug on a clean surface. Take a photo and submit your creation and photo side by side. If you want to ask for critique, be sure to state it in your upload.

Marvelous~ And for any other art, you can always say "I am open to constructive criticism" or "Critique me" if you want to see how you can improve.

The best way to move forward and accomplish something is to just DO something. Sometimes it does seem like you take steps back but you are still moving forward and upward in improvement.

I don’t think I can come up with a good response about not giving up.

I wouldn’t want to force you to continue, as the choice is up to you. What I can do is give you my own story since at times I can feel the same. I may not be a artist myself, but I can understand the feeling of being ingored and neglected. I’ve been in a position where I have been used and bullied over the things I’ve commissioned. Either used as a punching bag or some RP slave.

I’ve been called a creep by supposed “friends”. Invited to discord groups just to be mocked because I dare show my vision. And of all of this I ask the same thing. What’s the point?

Overall, I think this fandom has the well deserved reputation of being a hive of scum and villainy rather then being a community of tolerance and friendship. Ive meet good people in the fandom, but I’ve also had been sucked in by two-faced vultures.

I wouldn’t hold your choice against you. I’m thinking the same thing.

Speaking from experience, it doesn't really get any better once you do give up. Plenty of moments of "hey, I just got a great idea, I should- no, wait, I don't do that any more, damn" and the like. You get numb to it after a while, sure, but I can't say I feel any better having given up art compared to the earlier state of simply not doing art *at the given time*. The latter still has the *option* to go back into things if you ever manage to break out of the low point. You don't have to draw right now - but it's nice to have the option to do it again.

So, I honestly don't recommend quitting, as tempting as it might be. Take it from someone on the wrong side of a chasm with a few smouldering embers and an empty matchbox to his name - don't go burning your bridges too hastily.

I gather it's probably not too helpful, just... thought I'd provide some input. You do describe pretty much my mental state before I quit, so...

Getting rambly, so, bottom line: I do enjoy the stuff you create (generally - some content isn't quite my thing, but can't fault the quality), and I would be very sorry to see you quit entirely. It's okay if you don't post often, or at all for a while, so long as there's the chance for more of your art somewhere in the future.

No that statement is wrong. You have skill. A lot of it. Yes, every one has room to grow, but you have definitely made it. Your are is at an amazing level. You have your own style. And lots of people who went you to bring their ideas to life. Furthermore, every artist hates what they create. From Frankenstein to DaVinci. Another artist said that they just cover up their mistakes and hopes no one sees them because they are bad at drawing something. But that is the skill of the artist. They are the only obese to see the mistakes and covering them up doesn't make you a bad artist. It makes you like every other artist out there.

However, if it is causing you pain it may be time to kick this down to a hobby. We don't want you in pain. But if you think you can push through it and keep living your dream then go for it. Because you made it. You are a successful artist.

I wouldn't want you to quit. I have been watching you and I enjoy your artwork. If you need to take a hiatus, rest and get the creative focus back; by all means! You shouldn't have to force yourself because you feel obligated to keep pumping out art. But if you do want to permanently quit art it is ultimately up to you.

I didn't know you were open for commissions. Otherwise I would have started commissioning you for many interesting ideas since you're rather talented in animal shapes.

If you, however, are not happy with it, not enjoying, then I understand.
