What sort of god-awful system do they have in place where the admins themselves cannot reset your 2FA? Like, even the major providers like Google and Blizzard and whatnot can access that and take it off for you if necessary. But a small-time furry art site can't? WTF?

It's even in their FAQ. It's fucking stupid!

Well now I know what security system I won't be enabling because of there being a chance I can permanently lose my account for it. Which in and of itself would make the entire system inherently unsafe.

Why can't you access the authentication e-mail via the web on another machine?

Because Google Authenticator specifies account access to THAT device, and no others. I already looked into that.

I'm not even going to pretend that makes sense, but it seriously sucks.

I knew Weasyl was useless as soon as I peeked at it for the first time. So glad I abandoned it before it became 'big'.

I got pissed off at weasyl when they removed over 75% of my stories for content they didn't like. I didn't even have access to a computer at the time, just came back to find angry messages from admins demanding I take down X for Y reason, then more angry messages when I didn't comply.. then more angry messages when finally they were taken off for me :p
Mind you, I find the idea of "unacceptable writing content" to be asinine to begin with. If you flag correctly, it takes a lot of effort for a reader to actually get into it. XD It's not like you accidentally read 20k words and realize the story had gory violence in it, only at word 20,001!

yeah you can still get stuff from your phone but it has to be from your SIM card. So if you have to get a text to your phone to recover the account, you can do that just by taking the SIM card to another phone, such as a brand new phone or some other used phone you dont use or someone who has one with the same carrier, but you would need the service.

Best thing is your idea going to the phone store. I have been surprised in some of the things they are able to do and you might be able to recover everything on that broken phone.

Sometimes they have a thing where everything is stored in their computer. I got a new used phone Galaxy S6 Active and everything including my saved games were recovered and transferred. I was worried because i didnt want to lose any of my micro transactions from the games i had. Everything was recovered so you might get lucky and be able to recovered your stored data and get your account back.

If you do, REMOVE the authentication! lol

I had a similar problem when my phone went poof and steam needed to use your phone to authenticate the account. I had to email them and verify my account using the half life key which i dont even remember or know what it was. I dont know how i did it but i got lucky. I totally removed the phone number once i had access.

Phew.

So be patient until you get to that Phone Store. You'll know your accounts fate once you know the complete outcome.

Oh god that's terrible e_e ugh, it'd be such a pain in the ass to make a new account... I think for now it'd be wise to ignore weasyl, especially since you're pissed at it anyhow
