Pre-ordered a new game and a bit more
So, earlier this week I stopped by GameStop to pre-order an upcoming open-world and story-driven RPG game called Kingdom Come: Deliverance for PC.
It is set in medieval times, but not in a fantasy setting, rather its set in the heart of Europe, the kingdom of Bohemia, and it is set during the time when beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has died and now the kingdom has plunged into dark times indeed.
One of his sons, Wenceslas, has taken over and unlike his father, he cares not for the people, only about himself, is naive and has no ambitions whatsoever.
He has a half-brother, who also happens to be the King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, and he is sensing weakness in Wenceslas, he feigns good will by travelling to Bohemia and then kidnapping his half-brother which allows him plunder the kingdom and seize its many riches.
Caught in the middle of all this is Henry, the son of a blacksmith, who witnesses his entire village get burned to the ground by mercenaries that were hired, and ordered by Sigismund himself and he ends up being one of few survivors of this horrific attack, which has left him with a thirst for vengeance on the men who shattered his peaceful life and killed his family and loved ones.
He ends up in the services of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who's working on forming a resistance against Sigismund's invasion and Henry joins up without hesitation since this is his best shot at getting revenge.
Since this is a RPG, you will be improving Henry's skills when it comes to weapons and other things, which also includes charisma and other skills that can be used to try and avoid potential bloodshed.
As for the combat itself, it will be based around the fighting styles that they used in the medieval times AND armor will be, of course, of the outmost importance since one well placed hit will end either you or your opponent in one hit, the devs have worked hard to emulate just how effective the armor of a knight was along with showing that even cheap chainlink armor can mean the difference between life and then.
An interesting thing to note is that sometimes enemies might surrender during combat and you get to decide if you will spare them or kill them, this can lead to people either seeing Henry as a merciful and just warrior or a ruthless one that shows absolutely no mercy even to those who surrender along with potentially other consequences, same goes for how you choose to tackle the many quests you will be taking on in the game.
I'll leave you with some videos that showcase what to expect in the game along with a few trailers.
Weapons vs. Armor:
The Combat system:
Rex, Familia et Ultio:
Armor & RPG:
A Blacksmith's Tale:
You can find more interesting videos on Warhorse Studios' YouTube channel if any of you are interested.
As for the release date, it is on Tuesday next week.
And onto another thing.
A week or so ago, my big sister and her family had finally made their way to Sweden and settled in their new house, they came over and celebrated late Christmas Eve with us.
I got some nice gifts from them and these include Digimon World: Next Order for the PS4, the cyberpunk book Neuromancer by William Gibson and a cap that's got a bluetooth headset inside of it so you can listen to music while out in the cold.
Overall, it is really nice that they've finally moved to Sweden after this whole Brexit thing, they had originally planned to move here at some point, but it was planned for much later on until Brexit happened and it looked like their jobs weren't gonna be around because of it.
