There was a line in the most recent "Indiana Jones" movie that summed up how that feeling is as we get older. This being how there is a time in life when more is taken away than given. It's very sad but so true as you really start to appreciate those closest to you as loved ones depart this mortal plane.

Having family provides so much warmth in life. It's like a warm blanket that covers you to know everything is okay as someone is always there to provide love and support.

Fortunately 'family' does come from circles of friends. You are most definitely loved by your furry family here, Zoom-Zoom. You truly have been like a big brother to me and knowing you are here provides me a lot of happiness. It'd be lonely without you here as those like you are rare in supply. You are welcoming and ultra helpful in feeling a genuine sense of belonging.

May we treasure all those who enrich our lives, dear friend. *Snugs* Know you'll always be a big bro to this little quack. :)

Awwww sorry to hear about your grandma ZeeZee. *hugs tight* Loosing family sucks to say the least. But look at it this way. You say you were the only actual relative there. But there were still other people there. She touched enough peoples lives in such a way that despite no blood relation they wanted to be there at her funeral. Family is blood but it can be more than that. It's the people who's lives we touch. They say you don't choose your family but in some ways through the people you meet and come to care about and who come to care about you, you do choose them or they choose you. But yeah one can never say enough to someone close how much they mean to them.
