if you really feel is a pain in the ass you should try letting others tag for you? for example you can just upload your image on e621.net there's a lot of guys there tagging images, you just put the basic tags like maybe "nsfw gay sex male/male" then you wait a lil, lets say 4 to 24 hours and voila! your image is full with tags, you only copy them and use them here ^^

Well... yeah. It helps them to find your art faster/easier. I even include my name in the tags.

And you tag general things in the picture. Boobs/butt/dick/species/etc. x)

thats not necesarily true hon, I mean, putting your name in the tag it wont make ppl to know you but it will help the one that knows you find your art. Take this example: I recently commissioned an artist to make me a piece, it will have three versions: clean, cum and ws, he agreed to draw all of them to me but he told me that since ws is not really his cup of tea he wont upload that version in his page, now it is quite obvious that an artist tends to be more known than a simple commissioner as me, they will go to his page and they wont find that version and if they dont know me, they will never see that version of the image, however they can type in his name on the search and the image will appear, that will help both me and the artist: me to be more known, the artist because ppl will know that even though he didnt post it on his fa, he is willing to draw that and lets face it, the more kinks you draw as an artist the more customers you can have ^^

Try to think about the use of tags.

If you actually draw a lot of fetish stuff, think that someone will directly search this fetish.
Anything that happens that might be of interest for someone you have to tag. Bondage, creampie, oral sex, facial, etc. If it happens but you can't see it, tag "implicit XXX"; some people like that too (I do!).

Appearance/race/species is important to tag as well. Tag colors, or at least if it got warm, cold, pastel themes.

Background stuff doesn't need that much tagging however, it can be more abstract. It's useless to tag a fish tank for example if it's only a tiny part of the background. However if the scene is occurring INSIDE a fish tank, then tag it! You might have land on someone's fetish of being fucked in a fish tank or underwater (which would be a good companion tag if the scene occurs inside the fish tank!).
If the fish tank is part of a bedroom, then it's probably better to tag "bedroom". If the bed is an important device (e.g. protagonists are hugging on it or a soloist is masturbating), then tag it. It might not have to be used, it could be important because it's going to be used!

Basically, less details on what is unnecessary to the scene, and more on what could interest people.
Oh by the way, if you add a voyeur duck watching by the window, tag this as well. Because that could be someone's fetish -or fear!- haha

I wish there were a tool to help getting companion tags though. For example if you tag a picture as "facial", it could ask if "oral sex" is also in the picture.

i just do the basic tagging info.... like species of animal/theme/type of commission/commissioners name/artist name/characters name/etc. you can check my tagging if it helps.
