Hello. I've used the same copy of Photoshop CS5 for about 6 or 7 years now and I've sort of just copy-pasted the files from one computer to the next but I guess that's a good way to break it lol I can't afford to pay the usage subscription Adobe wants (or buy the program because dang man it's like really expensive) but I got super lucky and managed to get Clip Studio Paint on sale for 60% off (it might still be on sale if you were thinking of getting it and you're reading this when the calendar still says it's the 19th)
So, I've lost my brushes and I'm gonna have to learn a whole new program. A lot of my friends also use CSP and there are a ton of tutorials so I'm mostly just bummed that this happened so soon after taking on new commissions since it's gonna slow my speed finishing them. I can still use PS for now but I don't want to count on it not getting locked so I'm gonna try to hurry and finish any outstanding work in my queue then take a short break to learn how to animate in CSP. I apologize sincerely for delays this is going to cause, especially to those that may have been waiting to commission an animation from me.
On the bright side, I see a lot of people saying CSP is a much better program for art than Photoshop so maybe once I learn it I'll be able to do some especially awesome art with it!!
Thanks for reading. Hope yall have a nice week xoxo

If you end up disliking Clip Studio, there's a much cheaper line of PS products called Photoshop Elements... PSE6 was all I ever used for digital art until I found PSE2018 on sale for like 60 bucks (one-time payment, no subscription bs) around New Years. I think it's $100 full price, but there are sales all the time, and you might be able to find an older version for even cheaper. The photomanipulation tools are more limited than in full Photoshop but the painting tools are solid. I've never found it lacking for the kind of stuff I do. CSP has a good reputation though and you might end up liking it more than PS. Good luck and have fun playing with it!
I've heard of that!! A couple artists I followed on DeviantArt back in the day (<2010) used to swear by Elements before cheaper programs like Sai and CSP came around. So far I'm enjoying CSP. The UI was much more similar to CS5's than I realized once I figured out how to change the icon size to something smaller and not meant for touch screens. One of my friends showed me how to import my brushes from PS to CSP too and I'm pretty excited about that. Does Elements support animating? CSP does but I haven't messed around with it. PS's animation tools are apparently quite weird compared to non-Adobe programs so I'm a bit concerned that CSP will be like learning how to animate from the beginning all over again... But, like I said, I haven't tested it out yet so maybe I'm getting worried too soon.
Thank you for the recommendation though!! If CSP ends up being lacking in something I'll absolutely need to maintain art quality, then I'll definitely keep an eye out for a discounted copy of Elements c:
