I don't know, really, I haven't seen them compared. I also don't want to pass judgment unless I can hold him in my hands personally, since any issues he might have could just be random and not problems with the mold itself. I was tempted to get Volcanicus, but after seeing the combined mode it's a definite pass for me. Thing looks stupid and way too thin. And needing to have the spare hands attached to him, just to fill in that horrendously thin waist? No thanks.

I think the problem is that the Dinobots were never meant to be a combiner (except for The Beast in the comics, but that was more of a "What if?" thing), and so Hasbro didn't have a solid idea of what he should look like. Whereas Predaking looks good from what I can see. I'll have to wait until I can see him in person (maybe at Naka-Kon, if they have him), but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. I also like Abominus, though I haven't seen Piranhacon yet, so I don't know how he'll look.

true, very true. Piranhacon was released years ago though I haven't seen it since the 20th anniversary or so

I know though have you heard of Pranhaking. Originally, as shown at OTFCC 2004, Piranhaking was to have his own, original box-art. However, the box-art of the Timelines Piranacon is a recolored version of his original art instead of that newly commissioned piece. Piranhaking's unused art appears to have been drawn by Dan Khanna. Though I wish Piranhaking would come about but knowing Hasbro, they promise one thing hand out another thing that isn't Piranhaking, also the only image for him is on here http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Piranacon_(G1) at the bottom, though he might show up in PotP line.

I can agree on the dinobot's combiner form as a "What If the dinobot's combine" though I think we didn't need them to combine, I may pick them up if I can find them but in Australia it can be hits and misses on toy line's mainly with the power ranger series as some stores get them in and others don't or you have to order from interstate. I like 3rd Party Transformers though Hasbro my get my money on the Beast Wars one they have coming out

Yes I know both are in prototype design but that doesn't stop from wanting them both. I also just realize something I have less bad guys then good guys in my collection

Ended up getting Volcanicus after all, just because of the dinobots, though I'm thinking about getting a 3P add-on set to make him look better. And even though I was against it at first, I'll probably end up getting Predaking at Naka-Kon next year as my big purchase (I imagine the two Shawns will have him as a boxed set). If they don't have him, I dont know what I'll get. I'm sure I'll think of something, though.
