The Draxkoon Virus better known as the Draxkoon Plague is a virus first discovered on the ruin world of Draxkoon in the Corporate Space of the Republic Territory. It was discovered by accident when a Republic Recon Vessel (RRV) Majestic picked up a distress signal coming from a planet outside colonized space. The Majestic jumped out of hyperspace above Draxkoon where they saw blast craters all over the planet. According first look the planet must've nuked itself to prevent something from escaping. The Majestic sent down a shuttle named the Hawkeye down to the planet's surface to scour for supplies. Little did they realize the crew members would come face to face with the Draxkoon Plague. While exploring one of the many ruined districts a crew member saw a survivor in the ruins of an old shop but later turned out to be a Drexel. The Drexel let out a screeching cry which alerted the horde. Soon the crew members were fleeing as massive amounts of Drexels were pouring out of the wood works. During the escape one of the crew members became infected with the virus. Hawkeye left Draxkoon and brought aboard the Draxkoon Plague with them. The Majestic exited Draxkoon airspace and made its way to a refueling depot on Lespin-Ta. By now the crew members of the Majestic were turned into Drexels thanks to the infected crew member. The Majestic came crashing down onto Lespin-Ta just outside of the Republic base. Soon the infected crew began swarming the Republic Base and soon the entire planet.

When the Republic got word of a viral outbreak on one of its colony worlds they sent out the 4th and 6th Fleet to the sector where they were forced to bombard the planet. However the Draxkoon plague managed to escape the bombardment and made its way to Arrossii where the 6th fleet was forced to bombard the planet's capital. For what seemed like a disastrous event to force to bombard a planet the Draxkoon Plague was quelled or so they thought. According to virologists some underworld smugglers smuggled live specimens of Drexels that managed to survive the bombardments to other worlds. Apparently to the rich keeping a Drexel was good luck due to their high survival traits. Soon other worlds in the Corporate Space became infected with the Draxkoon Plague. According to virologists 34 colonies were infected with the Draxkoon Plague. This shocked the Republic on how a virus became so deadly. However at the time the Zecropolian War just started and the Republic was stretched thin fighting the Zecropolians and dealing with the Draxkoon Plague.

Luckily the Republic managed to stop the Zecropolians and focused its efforts on containing the Draxkoon Plague. By the end of 2310 GRS most infected worlds were cleansed of the plague, however some worlds like Tellis and Arrossii still had Drexels living in the undercities and cleansing city worlds was a dangerous move for the Republic. Luckily a vaccine was developed that helped civilians stay infected free from the plague. The Vaccine was only temporary as the Draxkoon Plague cultures rapidly and changes but the Republic continues to battle the Draxkoon Plague till this day. Notable worlds like Tellis would always be scarred by the Draxkoon Plague which ultimately lead to its destruction by the Demon Hunters. In the end the Draxkoon Plague claimed many worlds and the Republic vigilance on stopping the plague will never stop.
