So I went to the 7th annual Brampton Indie Arts Fest tonight/today. It was pretty wicked, I have to say.
Usually indie bands are not my thing, but one really stood out today, a 2-woman group called "The Paper Makers" (which you can look up on myspace, but they have no music up, which makes me cry in my soul 'cause I want more, they had a very short set!!). It's 2 local girls who take turns singing/playing guitar or playing drums. They remind me a little of magneta lane, but with a harder edge, which I appreciate.
Also, when did spoken word poetry get good? Usually I find it mildly annoying, but the two poets from the Toronto poetry slam that preformed today were wicked-awesome, and quite funny. Anywho, today was the last day, but if you live in the GTA I'd check it out next year. The last time I went was 2 years ago, and except for the number of zine dealers (waaaaay down, gotta publish some of my stuff!), everything has gotten much better!

So yes, this is me, plugging things which are good.
