I'm always at a loss for ideas, so I rather like YCH and grab-bag style stuff. However, they often don't suit my cast if there's more than one character in a given picture. For my purposes, YCH is best solo. Favor poses and situations that suit multiple personalities and expressions, since you'll almost always have to redraw the head, anyway.

Themed commissions are the best. Some people like having total control over what they get (to the point of driving artists crazy), but me... I like surprises. Most of the fun of commissions is seeing what the artist can cook up. 8)

Also, I don't get the hate for YCH and bases, or doing more than one picture from the same YCH. Don't listen to people saying it's lazy. Let the paying customers decide.
