Hey, it's your decision. Don't feel bad about it. ^_^ People will take advantage of anything they can get for free. You deserve to be paid for your work. If someone gets in a snit about it, that's their problem, not yours.

heh people who will hate you will be the people who screwed you or didnt get the opportunity to do so. their problem not yours. The decision just means you are serious about your art and your work, good for you.

It's good for you to end random requests, since many of them can be repulsively stupid or just a way to get you to do something for themselves. Think about it, how often have you ever had anyone make a request for you to draw something for yourself or of yourself? To be perfectly honest, any artist offering request are pretty much making free art, thus being a way to give others the opportunity to get what they want without actually paying for it. I still do belief that requests are good, but others should probably try not to be greedy with the open offer. However, on that note, the artist should not let favortism be a thought in their judgment.
