Should I quit art?
I feel like I should quit doing art... seems like no one wants to commission me unless I have my sales up... its very discouraging and makes me want to quit... Is my art bad?... like why doesn't anyone want art from me? If anyone has answers please tell me below... does anyone have tips on what I should do to get more commissions? Should I lower my prices?... I don't want to get into great detail about why I need money except the fact I need money for medication... I'm diabetic and recently went to the hospital because I can't afford medication to keep my blood sugar down... I have a day job but my checks all go toward rent... I'm sorry for being such a bother to everyone... If someone would please give me some tips on what to do I would greatly appreciate it... thank you...

You can't ask for people to commission you if your not very active on the site. Alot of people on here are very wary of artists who only pop up to ask for commissions then disappear for long periods of time. And in truth it's understandable since many artists have upped and bailed on their clients taking their money with them.
I don't believe you should quit drawing artwork darlin, I think you should keep at it. But you have to be more active on here and with your watchers to gain their trust in wanting to commission you other then when you run a sale.
Also, most artists did start out only getting commissioned when they ran sales, it's not an insult, it's the client testing you out to see if your worth commissioning in the future or not. The same happen with me and over time I started to gain regular commissioners who bought from my actual commissions and not merely my sales.
I hope this helps darlin, don't give up, keep going. :3
Also the ones with the sales, I've had regular customers come to me only when I've had sales on my art, not first time buyers, one even did so for a whole year and now that I've raised the price/ended my sales they have stopped commissioning me? Idk just sometimes it makes me feel insecure, like my art isn't worth the price I set for it.
I would never steal peoples money without producing a piece for them. I have issues with people asking for commissions, then not paying me once I'm done with the commission. I've had that happen to many times and its upsetting... perhaps people don't mean to do this but, I always get work done for my commissioners.
Perhaps I should ask for some ideas or something to draw maybe open up a small single OC free drawing thing? idk I don't want to be taken for granted either... man I feel like I want to cry... I don't know... I guess it just hurts...
That will happen sadly we all have had to deal with cheap clients who commission us like crazy at first but as soon as we have to raise our prices they disappear. Trust me darlin, we have all been there with that one and while yes it does suck it just goes to show they had no intention of ordering from you unless it was cheap. You don't always want such clients. While this person may have been wonderful to work with, real life does come into play and if they liked your artwork that much they would have commissioned you still even with the increase.
I know, trust me I felt the same way I you when I started off here a little over 4 years ago. But you can't let such thoughts break you down. You have to keep pushing forward, get your artwork out there and show people what you can do. People won't know you if you keep hiding. Make sense?
Big mistake darlin. You never take payment after you've finished with a commission you take it BEFORE you even start on a commission from anyone. It's so you know they have paid you and you won't have waste your time working hard on a commission only to have the client take the piece and not pay for it.
Asking for ideas isn't a bad thing darlin, why not open up for some art trades? Work with other people's sona's/character's and get your artwork out that way. Doing art trades from time to time not only allows you to work with someone else but will get your face out there whether with your artwork or their's. If watchers on here see another artists working on your character they will want to check you out to see what your about.
I completely understand darlin, I really do I felt the same way when I first started out here. But you can't let such negative thought bring you down. You can't succeed with your art if you keep doubting yourself.
I've been so mentally drained with all the work I've been doing in RL and ending up in the hospital has put a toll on it as well... I think my depression just makes me feel insecure... and the reason I'm guessing I feel ashamed and things about my personal art is because I've had friends comment that my art is getting sexual with other peoples furs after I told him I didn't want him doing things to my sona... idk I just felt bad that I didn't want him using her and I use her with other people... idk I feel bad...
Ah, if you ever feel like art trading with me I would totally love to! I love getting art from people and drawing for others too~ If you would like to feel free to send me a note/PM to set it up o u o, if not I totally understand as well u v u.
You are so very sweet!
I’m just broke.
I only get commissioned when I’m accepting Imvu credits so my plan for my art to pay for my art cravings did not work out..
but definitely don’t quit doll.
And there’s nothing wrong with expressing yourself, dear.
Let that shit out.
Let it knock you down,
But don’t forget to brush yourself back off,
Get back up and take he bull by the horns.
Do what you love.
Do what you need to.
Make a plan for yourself to help take the stress off money and medication.
Maybe keep doing the sales.
Keep getting more and more active.
Get your art out there.
Then when you’re comfortable again and taken care of,
I know you won’t need the sales anymore.
Don't be discouraged! Every artist takes a while to be known!
