The Bad News:
Last night, while my housemate was visiting a friend of hers,
her car was broken into and her handbag was stolen.
She called the police and filed a report, called her bank and cancelled her card, and all that,
but it was really worrying because she had pretty much all her important stuff in it.
Her wallet (debit card, ID card, Medicare card, etc), house keys, makeup, hormones..
Plus now she has to pay to get her car window replaced, on top of other financial woes right now.
So it was a pretty sucky night.
The Good News:
This morning a forensic officer showed up and managed to get two prints
from the car door that had the window smashed in
Several hours later Taylor gets a call about how they found the guy
AND recovered her bag with everything in it!
(also turns out her debit card was still in MY wallet since she lent it to me a few days ago
and I'd forgotten to put it back in hers, go figure XD)
She still has to go pick it up from the police,
but we're both super impressed with how quickly (and well) this worked out
Next Steps:
Even though we found her debit card in my wallet,
it had still been cancelled since she called up last night
so my debit card is going to be our main source of payment
for the next few weeks until her new card arrives,
which is unfortunate considering how little money I get paid
plus we've got a few large expenses coming up
(our lawn is god damn disgusting, it's basically a weed forest)
and it takes several days for any money she sends me to show in my account
so I'm gonna be opening up a few more cheap offers on here
to try and give us a bit more of a buffer for the next few weeks.

Shit happens, I guess. We're just lucky the dude's prints were in the system. The only things not in her bag anymore were her house keys and a.. personal item XD
