Comic stuff!

I tend to think a lot about the comic -- where it is going, what it may be building up to, etc. There's an end goal. It's a very long term one but it does exist. Going forward there will be a lot of little arcs but there will be a larger narrative that I hope to eventually cover.
What's interesting as well is that I tend to tone down the violence the more I think about the comic and the characters. The current two bumbling antagonists are no exception. They were originally planned to be much more mean and frankly murderous in their intentions. Now -- not so much.
That's not to say there won't be very dark and very "evil" antagonists at some point. But I've been enjoying the lighter tone of the story and I don't want to pull from that just yet.
Expect a lot of Rowan, Toby and Felix in the next arc as well as a lot of Lex. I'm really hoping to push some of their stronger traits to the forefront -- Felix's resourcefulness and Rowan's tenacity. We'll also get to see a bit more of "angry" Toby and Lex and how they each deal with the situation.
Also expect to see Grant (Rowan's Dad) again at some point in upcoming stories. Rose will be back too.

When writing your story, do you normally focus on long-term arcs first?
Or did you kind of imagine some of the shorter arcs and develop the larger story in your head as you worked on the comic?
Now, most of the in-between arcs I've been thinking about nudge world building and relationships towards that end goal. There's a story about the New Felidae colony. There's an arc about Lex and Connor's relationship. An arc about a jail break. An arc about a crashed scout ship. All these are things I've started penciling down (order above is not the order they will be in) based on the larger arc that I've been thinking about.
Now weather I get to that end state or not, I don't know, but having it in my mind helps me work on the smaller stories in between. They all have a greater purpose.
