Gryphons in Fiction?

So, needless to say, there are a lot of bird furries in games and cartoons and whatnot (Falco, Rawk Hawk, Kass, etc.). Having said that, I can't think of nearly as many gryphons - Lord Kass, all the MLP gryphs, Griff from Gargoyles, Pete from Housepets... Those are pretty much all I know about off-hand. Can anyone think of any others?
