The Pirate's Fate

For once, I have an update on something that isn't myself!
This here is a plug for The Pirate's Fate. It's a transformation-heavy visual novel that recently released on Steam.
Back when the project for it started, I was informed about it by
volkenfox , an artist whose work I adore and a friend of mine. He'd done collaborations with T.F. Wright before, and The Pirate's Fate was an ambitious step forward. Its concept was solid enough that I backed it on kickstarter, and I volunteered to test it when it entered beta; and I'm not at all disappointed.
Effectively, it's a VN set in an anthro-inhabited golden age of piracy; centering around a feline main character that gets drafted into the crew of treasure hunters. From there, it follows standard visual novel gameplay of providing the character choices, and the story progresses by way of those changes. However - this game goes, in my opinion, above and beyond in how they tackle the ramifications of the player's choices. Most prominently, your choices prompt transformations for both yourself and your crew. Bloodthirsty or accommodating, manipulative or messianic, loving some characters or throwing others under the bus - everything has a tangible and impactful effect.
The story can follow one of a dozen major story paths - but the changes between playthroughs arc both big, as aforementioned, and small. The game shows uncommon attention to detail in that, if a player pays attention, effects of even minor choices come back in minor respects.
My first playthrough was around four hours long without skipping around, and taking my time to absorb the story and dialogue - and that was just one route out of many. While players could easily go through another playthrough in under an hour or so if they skip through it, I'd recommend against it just to get a good feel for how each option changes things up. It's a very content-rich VN, with absolutely gorgeous art by volkenfox - I'd recommend watching him if you haven't already - solid music and writing, and a good deal of fetish appeal.
In all, I'd recommend checking it out. You can pick it up here for $15; it's on sale, so it'll go back up to full price soon. If you're a fan of the art, I'd recommend getting the deluxe edition too - the artbook is worth every penny.
