4/2/18 Morenatsu ~Revisited~ Development Update
7 years ago
Hey everyone, hope you had a good April Fools day yesterday! (And Easter, for those it's relevant to!)
I also hope you enjoyed the surprise update we put out. If it caught you off-guard, then it served its purpose!
There are several things I'd like to discuss going forward.
Due to several things happening over March, we've had to push back the real March update until April 15th at the earliest. I came down with the flu shortly after releasing 0.3.6, which put me out of commission for nearly two weeks. Then, as fate would have it, Devilizer's computer died around the same time I recovered, delaying any further art. Fortunately, I'm over the flu now and Dev has a new computer to play around with, so we're frantically trying to get things done so we don't fall much further behind. Thank you for being patient.
On a more serious note, there was another incident that needs addressing, and it concerns the fate of the bonus routes I know a lot of you were looking forward to. Due to creative differences, we've amicably parted ways with our secondary writer, Frostclaw, who was in charge of writing the bonus routes and proofreading the project. After much deliberation, Devilizer and I decided that from this point on, we're gonna have to keep the development team for Revisited closed.
Concerning bonus routes, though, while there may not be any officially endorsed ones in the game when Revisited is finally finished, I have some good news. Because we plan on releasing the source code for the game when it's done, ANYBODY (including you!) can make a bonus route for your favorite character if you're so inclined! All I ask is that you remain patient while the rest of the game is developed.
Lastly, I want to talk about translations. Again, since the source code will be released when the game is finished, you'll be free to translate the game into whatever language you prefer. All I ask is that you remain patient! I've had many, many people ask if they could translate what's already written for the game, but my primary concern has always been that the translations you guys do will be immediately out of date when the next update is released. I also regularly go back to old content to change details so everything stays consistent, so in all likelihood, translators would have to retranslate from scratch frequently. For your sake (and mine), I would prefer if all translation efforts waited until the game is further along. Thank you for understanding.
This is not to say I'm against translation! I acknowledge this project wouldn't even exist without the efforts of the English translation team. However, I don't like seeing people wasting their time on something, especially when its a project I'm working on.
That should just about cover it, I think. Thanks for reading this far! I hope I've answered some important questions and addressed any concerns you might have.
Cheers!
Dzahn

Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask: when the download is ready, will it be stored in a separate folder or as an update to the existing folder?

When I compile the updates for release, I do it as a complete separate folder. I've been looking into ways to get Renpy to update files without having to release full downloads, but at the moment it's way beyond my skill level.

Yeah, I can imagine that'd be really difficult. I'd like to learn how to do that myself for Unreal Engine projects I want to work on in the future.

Who remains in the Dev team, then? Just you, Devilizer, and Lesli-Chu?

Couldn't have put it better myself! I just wish more thought this way. It would spare free working designers around the globe a great deal of stress!

Thanks! We'll keep doing what we're doing, though it's nice to know some people understand development can be quite the journey.

I'm just excited that the project is still being moved forward. So many decent projects have gotten abandoned due to creative differences. I believe that you three have an amazing creative potential to go farther with this. Good Luck!
