Just noticed I had 410 followers and nearly as much now on FA! (390+) Not sure where you all came from but thank you so much!
I’ve finished 162 comic pages so far. 162 will be available at the end of the week. That’s honestly rather impressive I think for something that is being done as a hobby in what little spare time I have (I have a full time job, a part time job and own a business) and something I did to improve my art.
When I started out, I had a good idea where I wanted the comic to go in terms of the story. I had an outline and some key pages thought out. I would try to write a good 10+ pages in advance. Lately it’s been a bit more “play it by ear” than I would like as I’ve been busier than usual but I still have an outline of what happens. I know how it ends. I know key points in between.
That’s not to say things change. This arc changed in a few notable ways. The first arc changed a fair bit too, as I have mentioned before (Etzel’s death).
A lot of the changes end up tone related. The comic is a lot more lighthearted than it was planned to be and I like it that way honestly. There’s enough angst out there in other media. Bull and Angus (the terrier and ox) are a lot less “evil” than planned. They are bad guys – definitely – but far less competent.
Even Lex’s kidnapping is different. Bull and Angus were always meant to show up again to kidnap Lex. That was planned ages ago and it’s the reason the pop up a couple of times in the first arc. Originally, I hadn’t planned for Rowan to find Lex at the park. She was supposed to find his hoodie with some blood on it. I’ve been enjoying having the two bond as friends and took the opportunity for more of that and it made the scene a bit more kid friendly.
I’ve also introduced Tandy and Coil for this next arc. Coil is based on Steve Jobs and plays the role of coyote super genius. Tandy is a robot named after the old Tandy computer. Honestly, they were introduced to give the good guys a bit more of a challenge but Coil will also tie things into later arcs.
