FEATURED ARTISTS:

Hello everyone
I would like to know what do you think about these questions:
◈ Do I have a recognizable style?
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
◈ Are my prices fair?
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
◈ What do you think I should improve?
Thanks for reading and if you take the time to reply some of these questions, thanks in advance <3
FA+

Second advice would be that you should draw girls little bit more curvy. You tend to draw them very very slim and that's something guys usually don't like. They want at least some curves. Maybe distance little bit from a realistic propotion attempt and try something stylistic in terms of that.
◈ Do I have a recognizable style?
I personally would recognize your style.
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
I think this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26493069/ is something you should go for and improve
◈ Are my prices fair?
Not sure if I would look at it with "fair". It's more a question about supply and demand. If you don't have demand you have to lower the prices.
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
If you barely have enough commissions or sell YCHs at a decent price you shouldn't think about Patreon etc.
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
It's commissions for me but mostly because I like to get creative myself as artist
First, many people use € and I have been using € for a while, what made me swith from $ to € is that Paypal takes fees two times (one for invoices and then again when converting into €)
and now due to the $ being in a lower value than the €, I should rise my prices in order to not lose out with the change. So thanks for the input but I'll stick to using € as is the currency that I use to pay my bills
Second, and here I thought my girls had curves and were not anorexic, you are the only person that have said me this few times already... I don't know but, if you look at other's arts there way more slim girls out there ;)
I don't draw big bellies or super big boobs, yeah that's true, but is my style and like I respect other artist's styles, I appretiate others respecting my style :) I like to draw girls and I always try to make them look sexy and appealing, adding realistic proportions, some artists have a gift to draw stylized bodies, in my case is not so easy so I look at anatomy models and try to make bodies look proportioned.
about the rest:
Thanks, glad to know you think so ^^
That drawing was first try of that style and yes I already did again with more improves https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26887346/ with some Lenika edits over :)
Lately the suply and demand at FA has been like a rollercoaster, but I think my prices are not bad compared to artists at a similar level
Other artists have it even having enough of YCHs and commissions, so why shouldn't I?
I like both, is fun to work with the creativity of commissioners also
drawing slim girls is not a style it is a preference. It's your ideal body type for art, which is fine but just saying because there are people who are naturally "big bellies or super big boobs". There are stylized body types but that is normally to extremes and a tendency to have certain proportions that stay the same across all drawings not just characters. example Disney, Steven universe. Style=world/universe to make everything look like they belong. Take to google and expand your horizons. The my style word is an excuse not to do the work or to stay in your safe zone. Staying in your safe zone is fine, but you may be missing out on some good opportunities and possibly alienating some of your audience.

Anything you try to do, I'll do what I can to support. The value you place on yourself and your efforts in working hard will dictate what you can do. Do your best and good luck with your future art!

I don't make excuses to stay in my safe zone, and if my reply to Surody's comments did bothered you in some way... I was just defending that as others have their styles and their ways of doing things, I have mine too
I respect other's opinions, hence I ask for respect my opinions as well
◈ Do I have a recognizable style?
If i hear or think about the Artist name Etskuni.. its like : "This is a good quality Artist with high details"
Because of the fact that everyone has a different point of view.. its hard to tell.
I like how you draw and i remember your style.
+1 for more curvy ladys or at least with a larger breast size.. If you dont like to draw it that way.. its Ok
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
They look "soft" and sometimes "shiny" (thats a positive thing)
◈ Are my prices fair?
Hell no! Fuck those € prices. JK
Depends on you and what you wanna accomplish. Do you live from Commissions/Artworks in general?
Do you get enough commissions to pay the bills?
If NO.. fix your prices. Lower them for a decent amount of time and do some Collabs, so people recognize you and your work. They will really quick appreciate what you do for the fandom and you grow even faster.
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
I simply hate that kind of stuff.
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
Nope sorry :/
But others will! For sure!
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
I prefer Commissions over YCH´s but not these kind of "First come, First serve" thing.
Some people live in a different time zone and it makes it almost impossible for them to get a slot if they dont want to be up till the next day just to snipe a slot.
◈ What do you think I should improve?
Allways improve as a person
Since your an Artist.. improve your Art. The artworks you did are awesome allready but why should you stop there when you can become better?
improve your workflow : How many Artworks can you press out in a month or in a Commission Session.. or whatever. Do you get burned out easily? Improve on that and lower the amount of commissions you want to do.
Improve your goals :
Never forget to have fun while you draw
About larger breast sizes... if characters doesn't have said larger cups, I can't draw them because then I wouldn't represent their bodytype. Besides is not my style, like I said to Surody, I try to make bodies look proportioned.
Do you live from Commissions/Artworks in general? Yes, is my only source of income
Do you get enough commissions to pay the bills? Sadly no, because tho I get commissions requests, when I do the sketch and get the approval, sometimes at the invoice time I don't get paid... So that's why I do YCHs to pay my bills
I do Collabs from time to time, lately even more often than never before hehe, besides I do love to collab with other artists so I hope people will appreciate it :)
I don't like paywalls, that's why I never did that, but I do have both Patreon (with Discord rewards also) and Ko-fi (as a tip jar)
Is totally okay, I respect it
I never used the "First come, First serve" but I share your same thought, is not good for people in other time zones. So I won't use it in the future either
Oh yes, I always try to improve both as a person and as an artist, there's so much to learn yet.
Having fun is actually one of the most important things while drawing, it's not easy sometimes when your head is worried about other problems, but yeah definetly important.
Thank you for your comment <3
..yes actually! Especially your faces :3
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
I believe your fully painted renders excel
◈ Are my prices fair?
As a terrible cheapskate I'm not gonna answer that :P
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
I don't like Patreon. I like Ko-fi!
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
Via commissions!
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
A balance works best in my opinion. YCHs need to find a character suitable for the pose. Commissions need to find a pose suitable for a character.
◈ What do you think I should improve?
Technically or about publicity/organization?
Aw thanks, I do like them also, would love to draw more of them as well hehe
haha okay xp
I like real coffee even more :p
You wanna commission me? ouo
I like doing both honestly ^^
About whatever you think I should improve c:
I think my prices are not bad, so I'll leave them like that for a while
Actually the sketch commissions through Ko-fi is a neat idea, I might do it in the future, thank you!
Oh yes, I do share my process throught Patreon with the Discord reward in real time while I'm drawing, from concept sketch to final details :)
Understandable, YCHs can be not what everyone likes, thanks for your opinion
You are right, all improvement is good! Thanks again!
Yes
very lovely artwork and enjoyable shading.
I believe they are fair sadly I am a very poor person and unable to commission.
I would try buymeacoffee.com
I don't have money but I really do wish I could support you.
Commissions are normally better as they are more tailored
Nothing, really all seems pretty good to me.
Thanks again, don't worry is okay :)
I saw their site, is very similar to Ko-fi (maybe in the future I could switch)
Moral support is also welcome, thank you
That's true, commissioner can pick more details of the idea
Thanks again ^^
I think ya do! I can scroll around and just from seeing the smaller thumbnails I can see ya made it by hand. You have a elegant and very soft look to your artwork. I also think you capture the animal trais very well
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
Very smooth and wellplaced with both shadows and light!
◈ Are my prices fair?
I would belive so yes. You do put alot of hours into each piece and it clearly shows in each piece ya produced. I know everybody values artwork differently depending on if they like said artist alot etc.. but I can't answer for anybody more than my own opinion about your prices so heh. ^^'
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
Ko-fi is always a good thing to have if somebody would just like to give a small donation! Patreon could been nice with some special offerings, or just a nice way to get supporters for personal projects, seen alot who makes it for comics for example, or pinup stuff!
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
I would possibly do, especially if some great advice with art could be shared!
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
I think both has their up and downs. YCH's is already a chosen theme/pose and sometime it's only solo slots or it's dup but it doesn't let you bid for both (thinking for couples who don't wanna mix), but it can also be a fun way for others to mix their characters with others, or if they may not have any specific ideas, YCH's is good way to go! And commissions let's a client be part of the progress from the very beginning and more specificly get what they want. So I would say both, but perhaps more leaning towards commission!
◈ What do you think I should improve?
I think you do grand things already, but if you feel comfortable with it you could try and make a little experimental stuff! Play and stylize with anatomy, maybe try different lines and shapes, change something during colour or shadows progress, explore some? c:
Thanks again ;w;
But your opinion is important to me, so thanks again! you are really kind c:
I have both, Ko-fi as a tip jar (but might do sketch commissions in the future, thanks to catgraffiti for the idea), and Patreon with Discord rewards, real time sharing WIPs, HD files, and also discounts for commissions ^^
Would be nice to do pinups, I've seen other artists doing so and it's fun, might try my hands at it also :) thanks for the suggestion!
I agree with you, personally I like both :)
Thanks one more time <3 and you are right, I try new things from time to time, but would be fun to do it more often :3
Super fucking pretty
if you are getting enough work to keep a steady flow then you are perfect with prices. otherwise you might wanna drop them ever so slightly.
Why not both. It allows peeps to help support you. maybe do a small sketch at the end of the month for the top x amount of kofi tippers x3
At the moment I could not but if I could I would like to. HD files, alternate versions, voted monthly pin up, maybe a tier with a colored sketch per month as a reward. Also using patreon only for HD files and the voting because if art is posted their first and you "paywall" everyone from seeing your work for a month or so it can cause negative feelings.
A mixture, Ychs can be a nice way for you to set up a scene you really want to draw and simplify the process for both artist and commissioner. Also they can allow you to get a spot in a piece which might normally be outside of your price range. Though I would enjoy seeing both be options :3
I don't know if you have such a tier but adding sketches (B&W, flat color and shaded) would be a nice cheaper option that you could offer in limited amounts which would allow those who can't drop more than say 30-40 euro to get a full body piece from you.
Hope this input helps :3 <3 also hope you have a lovely weekend :D
Aww thanks ;w;
So far not bad, I will keep them for a while
I do have both actually hehe but I don't advertice them because I feel people would say "ugh" cx
If I get enought supporters sure I could do that!
I have already all those rewards except a montly pinup (which I might start doing in the near future). I don't like paywalls, so I never did that, I post all my arts just few days after I posted them over Patreon. Thank you for the input :)
I agree with you, I do like both, each one has their good things ^^
I have a tier for a shaded drawing, but I might consider doing a cheaper option as well, you are right it would be a nice option for people interested, thanks again for the suggestion
It helps really, thanks a lot and have a wonderful weekend you too! <3
Yes you do! Especially on how you draw faces and the way you shade.
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
I find they are very lovely, soft and stuning.
◈ Are my prices fair?
I would say yes with the amount of time you work on each commission and the amount of details you do.
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
I am not really into patreon or ko-fi but I know others are ok with it!
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
Sadly I don't do patreon or ko-fi things. But I support you on FA!
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
I honestly like both because YCH has a fixed theme already and if I like it then I will just start the bid! and well commissions just so they can bring my idea to life. The one thing I noticed throughout FA is that you do not see much YCH were you could buy both slots (couples), it's ok to mix your character but sometimes I wish to just get both slots so I can place my character with my husbands.
◈ What do you think I should improve?
I would say experiment with anatomy proportion, I would love to see you draw a little bit more chubbier girls, since my character sort of focuses of my RL body shape which is wider hips, bigger thighs, butt and I have a bit of a belly, however she has smaller breast. But honestly I do like your style none the less. :)
Not that I can see
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
It's okay
◈ Are my prices fair?
Not sure, they seem high to me, but I tend to be frugal
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
Just don't use it as a paywall
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
Probably not. When I do support, I can't afford much, but I like getting hi res versions for $1-$2. Course if you don't work in higher res than you already post, then that won't work.
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
I kinda prefer SFW group YCHs, other than that I prefer Commissions
◈ What do you think I should improve?
Well on this pic https://www.furaffinity.net/view/26800889/ the eyes don't look right, like they were done in a different style, and the clothes look like a 2D image pasted on a 3D figure.
Other pics don't have those issues, but I notice on some the lines are a bit too... um, strong?
Sorry if this doesn't help, I'm not so great at answering questions.
About Patreon, like I said before to other users, I don't do paywall and I offer WIPs, HD versions and alternative versions also
Yes! Your soft shading, and your eyes.
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
I think it's very pretty, I loved this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26681660/ as of late :P
◈ Are my prices fair?
I think so! I can't recall your prices but whenever I see the YCH's I think they're fair! If you're getting more demand for your art than you can fulfill, it's a good indicator to raise your prices :)
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
I like both! Rewards for patreon are really nice especially if they're personal (I don't like paywalls when art is never released to the public, but I have zero problem with "See this first" for Patreon! And Ko-Fi works really nicely, no fees, and it's great for tips.
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell m
I would LOVE to, I'm just in a financial squeeze. But I'd love to see you gain patrons!
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
I'm 50/50, I like both!
◈ What do you think I should improve?
Mayyyybe your anatomy/proportions? But it's very rare something ever sticks out to me, so that's a very small suggestion. I'm really not sure, I enjoy your work a lot! Feel bad I don't get to talk to you as often nowadays haha.
Hope it helps! <3
That's how I work with my Patreon, no paywalls, patrons see the arts few days before I post drawings in my other galleries ^^
Yeah I'm trying to practice anatomy and proportions, thanks for the kind words, as for talking if you have Discord? I'm there everyday + my server ( https://discord.gg/dw2nJcY )
poke me if you want c:
◈ Do I have a recognizable style?
Definitely! I always recognize your art when I browse my inbox :D
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
I really like your cellshading style and your new way of painting -
don't ask me why, but I think your lined and fully shaded pieces are your best, but I assume that's because you can't practice painting that often (I know that feeling ^^'')
◈ Are my prices fair?
Definitely! considering the amount of work and time you put in each of your pieces they are fair :)
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi?
I think they are both great opportunities for artists to support themselves to focus on personal things more often!
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me
Student here, got no money :c But what is most appealing to me (if I'd support) iiis tutorials, speedpaints, maybe the chance to get some extra art like sketches etc?
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions?
Commissions, but that's because I got stories for my characters and I like to see them in their "natural environment" lol
BUT I think your YCHs are great, and moreso I think it is super cool that you collaborate with so many artists- I'm always excited for the results
◈ What do you think I should improve?
Hmm there's one thing that I think is improvable - but that's a very small point- you draw a lot of detail when painting hair- which is great
Butsometimes it makes it look a bit straggly - I think it would look awesome if you'd put in some highlights instead of drawing so many seperate streaks inside the hair :D
other than that your art is great and you improve so much everytime.. I'm sure you'll get better and better :D
hehe yes I can't practice painting as much as I'd like ^^
Thank you, means a lot c:
Yes, I also would like to support other artists, will do in the future when money allows me. Thanks for the suggestions, actually I'd love to do tutorials and more speedpaints, same for sketches
You are right, when having characters with their stories and settings, the best are commissions, I like both actually ^^
YCHs are super fun, specially when collabing with other artists :3
Oh yes the hair, I honestly never seem to stick to a way of drawing it, I have to find the perfect balance into not too much strands of hair and also the highlights, thanks for pointing it out ^^
And thanks for commenting <3
So,
◈ Do I have a recognizable style? | Yes, you have! Personally I recognize you on the previews, by the color solution (you prefer to use pastel and sometimes more faded shades that resemble seven-realism) and you have your own way of drawing bodies, I would say that it is very recognizable :3
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting? | look at previous paragraph, using the color scheme sets your own sense of style, so you can learn by preferences in the soft style of shadowing. I like the anatomy and the way of painting in this drawing, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26161749/ it would be interesting to see from you and use hard shadows or combine it too :3
◈ Are my prices fair? | I watch many different artists, and I've seen people who subjectively paint on the same level with you, but they have prices one and a half to two times higher than yours, and so I believe that your prices are not inflated at all.
◈ What are your thoughts about Patreon or Ko-fi? | Difficult question! I, as an artist, would be pleased to receive support. But from the point of view of the supporter, I prefer to be economical ^^"
◈ Would you consider supporting me? and if so, what rewards are more appealing to you? If you have suggestions also, please tell me | same previous paragraph
◈ Do you prefer YCHs or Commissions? | From the customer's point of view, I think that I would not have certain preferences. I like to order commissions if I have a clear idea of what I would like to see, but I would also buy Ych if its topic is very sympathetic to me.
◈ What do you think I should improve? | It seems to me that you can try combining several types of shadowing, for example hard + soft shadows, and it would be interesting to watch some story-like scenes or dynamic scenes too <3
I also wanted to ask your permission if I can use your poll in my journal. I think this could help every artist who doubts something in theyself.
I would also be happy to do a collab with you in the future <3
Thanks for being so kind, I will try to draw more with hard shadows and mix them with the soft shading :3
And also for the suggestion of story and dynamic scenes ^^
Sure, you can use it in your journal, if this can help other artists that's nice c:
And I'd like to collab with you also <3
Also yeah your style is very recognizable. c:
Yes and I wanted to see the reactions of the people, before submitting a journal to feature my Patreon and Ko-fi cx
If many artists have/use them, why can't I? Living from art is not so easy sadly
Glad you think so, I think we all doubt about our styles or think that we don't have a specific one (a least I do cx) but thanks to your comments I'm more aware that I have one ^^
I know how you feel! But I can definitely tell when a painting is yours without reading the name. :3 Sometimes I get confused on the collabs where I think "Hmm I'm pretty sure Etsku worked on this". XD
Honestly, in my opinion, I wouldn't recognize your drawings from some of artists I follow. That doesn't mean your drawings are bad, I love those idealistic body types and attractive ordinary face on anthros. But without very fine anatomy, rendering. and stylization you wouldn't be any different from all other anthro-artists. The bad side of this point of view, that I'm trying to evaluate you as a professional, not art-hobbyist which, I guess, are around 90% users of this site. So, forward question to you: what would you like to achieve from art in general and from the audience of this site also?
◈ What do you think about my types of shading/painting?
I'm a realistic rendering-type person but if we talk about stylization, I think, your shading level would increase if you try to separate shadow from light more strongly and I suggest you to use hard brush for that purpose, and only then soften the hard edges. It will ncrease the readablility of the shapes.
◈ What do you think I should improve?
A standard kit for improvement: anatomy, rendering, perspective, stylization (it's not making you to have your own style, it's about simplifying some shapes in a character and givng them some exagerration). Also may be explore some new types of illustration, other than just pin-ups.
Sorry for such gloomy beginning and wall of text. I'd like to help you to answer some questions and find answers for mine. So, if you want to discuss it in details, you are very welcome.
Cheers!
what would you like to achieve from art in general and from the audience of this site also? good question, I'd like to become better at art (we all want that), and from the audience.. who knows maybe in some years being a known artist from this site, being recognized for my drawings hehe
I love doing realism, I started drawing people portraits, but when I started in this site, I had to learn how to draw in the way I do now... I agree with you 100% about the separating shadow from light, I know I do that "bad" but when I have hard edges... I look at them and they seem to be too hard, hence I soften them :/ but I must keep trying to improve that
Totally, that's the key, I have to push myself into stylization more and keep practicing the others too. I want to draw other types, but so far people seem to like pin-ups so when that's what pay bills... I stick to it
Don't worry, you have been sincere and willing to help, so thank you for taking the time to comment.
Cheers ^^
I like his approach for rendering, he divides everything in separate sources of light and each iteration of painting is in separate layer. I used the same approach when I couldn't render in color at all and it surprised me how drastically my skill spiked from 'I don't know rendering' to ' I can do it somehow and I'm going to like the result'.
Also, if you don't like the look of sharp shadows in the stage of determining light and shadow areas, I guess, it's may be some of four things:
- Wrong determination of shadow's place on a shape.
- Too dark or too light shadow opacity.
- Wrong shadow structure (shadow, terminator, reflected light, highlight)
- Or maybe you just rushing to finish the drawing, because it shouldn't look finished or fine when you are on this stage. Keep pushing on next stages and everything will look much better.
So, regarding stylization, unfortunally, I"m completely stupid in this area :D But I'd suggest you to look at these guys - http://twofancyowls.tumblr.com/ and read this blog - http://babelab.blogspot.ru/?zx=27ecf30c685fd42f (he's a king of stylization but in my opinion, he likes exagerration too much. Anyway, very useful info there).
I hope, it'll help you =)
◈ I like how elegant your artworks look =) And I really like to see how you improve! I think one day your star will brighten up the entire FA, and everyone can see how good you are
◈ I think it's a little low
◈ I can't to say anything useful about it =( I think Patreon needs more super exclusive content , but Ko-fi is more simple
◈ Honestly, I have long wanted to support you on Patreon if I'll start Patreon sometimes. I can't buy commissions and YCHes, and donate on Ko-fi such... one-time? I want you see that more real people want to support you constantly.
Likely I can support when my income will be more stable
◈ If I was a buyer I prefer Commissions, because I want to see my ideas and thoughts
◈ Anything what you can >:3 I think every artist can improve its skills, even if it seems that everything is fine
Believe in you and love you, you can do a lot <3
Aww I always try to draw chars in an elegant way, so glad you noticed it ;w; Thanks dear, improvement is so hard cx so much struggle behind it hehe. Naww I just hope to be able to draw better and also support other artists more, when my financial situation allows me to do so :)
Really? I always have a hard time pricing my art, but at least I think that I'm not overcharging people. Maybe if I get better I can rise my prices a bit.
Is okay, I had no idea how both worked a while ago, Patreon is way more complex that Ko-fi that's sure
Thanks a lot dear! I think you should start to use Patreon too, you also deserve to be supported by people. Like you said, I plan to start supporting other artists with Patreon when money allows me. *hug*
Yeah, some commissioners have super cool ideas c:
That's so true, we all can improve always ^^
You know what, that's what my mother and my best friend always tell me ;u; so I'l have to start doing that hehe <3 Thank you sweetie!
If you want we can tell in Telegram about price. Maybe I'm just confused х3
Anyway, can I take it in my journal like Ketty did? :D
Oki ^^
And sure thing :3
You're really cool artist, so continue to do what you doing. We think, thank only you can improve your art, because only you see and feel what need to improve. And don't be afraid to drawing in new style or doing smth new. Also remember that your artstyle is your safe zone itself. But if you feel comfortable to draw in some artstyle it isn't mean that you do something wrong.
Draw things that you want and like to draw, because that's the point of drawing!
Good luck sweetheart, we will watching you art with interest farther ❤
It means a lot to me, really ;u;
We can give 100 advices, but all of them will not make sense, because it will be only our own personal opinion aand opinions differ.)
We'll just patiently waiting for the drawings in your performance, in which you can express YOUR vision and YOUR uniqueness.
Love you <3
