People don't have to buy my stuff to make me feel appreciated. Feedback and comments are nice, too. I read every single one... when I do get one on the extremely rare occasion that somebody actually bothers to take the time of day to show a little support.

im honestly busy so distracted and these days so depressed i generally fal to say or do anthing. i watch i dont know how many people that i enjoy art from... never have money on hand to commission anyone. i got nothing more that i can say other than im legitamately sorry... forgive my piss writing please i was doing thhis one handed while holding my dinner.

Artha I'm sorry. I love my ref you did and I like your art style but I'm bad about commenting on art I like. *hugs* I wish I could buy some art from you but... it is expensive. Not to devalue your art but have you ever thought of using tactical marketing strategies such as flash sales? It's one of those things where is it a better idea to sell more for less or less for more if that makes sense. I've also noticed an odd drop in emotion in the furry community, like everyone is getting hit by a wave of depression at the same time

I already make way below minimum wage for the time and work I put into my art and flash sales never really did well either. I already have very low prices, even as my artwork improves and I take more time on it.

My heart is much larger than my wallet. I see too many artists struggling to survive and I wish to help them all but I'm no millionaire. *sigh* I just want to help everyone, make everyone happy but life just doesn't work like that. The old saying nice guys finish last is true. I spent all my spare money buying food for my friends family because his job doesn't pay enough... hell I barely survive off my job. The economy's in the toilet and has been for the most part declining since the 1920s. The poor stay poor and the rich stay rich and that's always how it's gonna be. I'm sorry for going on a rant but I just needed to get it out of my system.

It's so terribly true. And people wonder why Americans are so damn miserable. This country is horrible. The system is broken, employees are underpaid and overworked, and just surviving in and of itself is stress incarnate. The shit work place and the stress it causes has been found to be the fifth leading cause of death in the US.

Hmmm from looking at your profile you make it a bit hard for people to buy from you.

You have no commission info tab and no link to your prices - Most people hate having to message people to find out how much you cost so this cuts out the majority of people right there.
you could fix this by making a commission info tab with your prices with examples.

On your profile you say you do stream only commissions this also cuts out a lot of people.

You will need to change this is you want commissions.

It's because commissions are mostly in stream only, and I stream every weekend.

Still, I can verify that most people don’t want to have to work to find commission information. I’m one of them. I usually will try and look if I’m really interested, but if I’m not then I move on.

It's actually right on my front page that commission status is stream only, but I could add that I generally stream on the weekends. The prices are on the stream announcement and listed on the stream itself.

People wont look in your gallery to find prices thought, they will look if you have a tab and if not they will look if you have a link on your page, when its not there either they will move on.

You can set a featured image from your gallery to your profile that clearly states it has your prices and streaming times. That would help more than having people work to find it.

If you dont list your prices ahead of time in a link people can check out no one can plan to go to your stream, you dont even list when you stream.
You know you stream on the weekends and you know your own prices but buyers do not unless you put that info up, and if its not up you wont get buyers.

You have really great art, if you would just make the info there im sure you would get commissions

Also, adoptable are a glitchy thing, there's a few specific people that'll collect them, but otherwise it's just almost random chance that you'll draw something that'll match someone's interest closely enough. Or, it's those 'closed' species that people want adoptables of just to buy their way into the species. And people will always ask for more. It's like hitting "randomize" on a character creation screen, you never know when something interesting will come up.

Depends on if you want art to be your livelihood or just another side form of income. For me, commissions are basically random lucky events that I get once or twice a year, and I think every year I deserve to have more commissions than I do previously, due to skill improvement and whatnot. That being said, it seems like no matter what I do, it doesn’t matter either.

I’ve decided to just draw for myself and my friends now, but I know that’s not ideal for people who want to do art full-time and whatnot.

I’m not terribly sure what advice to give other than “listen to what the popular artists say about how to grow your audience” and to do what helps you feel better about your art, and I hope what I said doesn’t come across as patronizing. I saw a post a little while back on Twitter that said how to help get an audience, but I can’t seem to find it now. I guess as an aside, I’d get a twitter if you don’t have one currently and use it. Is it hard to get followers on there? Yeah, I’m active and engaging and post my art and hardly get followers, but not having one does sort of lock you out of that user base, many of which have abandoned FA (in furry Twitter).

Sorry that I'm not very active here on FA. I really do enjoy your kivuuli art whenever I see it.
