Bad news and Good news

First the bad news:
This morning after picking hubby up from work, my computer froze. Now it's having this issue when restarting where windows won't start and keeps trying to do the automatic repair. None of the automated repairs are working and currently trying to search the internet for some things to try and fix it. This also means that I'm going to have to wait to see the dentist about the recent issue mentioned in my last journal.
The Good News:
I am using my 7 year-old laptop, which I only use when my computer is having issues. I have all of my stories backed up on OneDrive, which means I can still write and continue posting the rest of Ashchu's Rape if I need to. So, even if I have to wipe my computer clean, at least those files are safe.
In short, life is kinda crappy for me right now, even though there are a few up sides, there are too many down sides.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue with Windows 8 on my laptop. I'm having to use my phone as a desktop in the meantime.

It's amazing with how long microsoft has been making windows products that there are still problems like this.

What's annoying is that I've already tried everything I could, and still nothing. My laptop can't go back to a restoration point, and can't fix itself up with the automatic repairs. I'm gonna wait until a friend can come over to see if he can fix it up for me.

I'm unsure if this feature is in windows 8, but what fixed it for me is the "System Reset" option. Windows basically reset itself, keeping my personal files, but removed all apps and programs.

This option on Windows 8 would completely format my laptop. The option to keep the files is called "Update System", but that doesn't works either. It asks for an instalation media, but I could only find it for Windows 8.1, not for the 8. So I can't do it.

Have you tried using with the 8.1 installation media, it might work with that? If you do have to format, I would recommend trying to get an external hard drive, getting a command prompt up (There is a lot of bootable media out there that will boot directly to it), and copying everything on your laptop to the external hard drive. This way, at least all your files are safe.

I just found this for creating a windows 8 installation media. I have not tested it, but thought it might help out: http://apps.codigobit.info/2012/03/.....ler-maker.html
