I wouldn't be surprised on the slightest. I don't have experience myself on it, but SL marketplace is such a hidden thing... It's very hard to track unless you contact SL's staff; which I guess, won't be willing to do much about it, as they profit from it.

Mother fuckers. I tried to report, followed a link which led me to a wall of text to read, followed another link which led me to some US government page or something, am I supposed to report there(?!)
Of course they are making profit from it =___=' Now the secoond question - do people really buy such thing.

I know it must feel horrible to be in this situation but please don't waste your energies with the people who did this to you, focus on yourself and your healing, after all they don't deserve a single second of your time and attention.

Only remind people to be aware that images can be stolen. Most wont give a damn still. Next thing to do - slap watermarks all over the image and yet next stop - quit posting art for free at all, the end :P.

Oh it's just a minor annoyance for me now. I wont stop just because of that for sure.

Yes, sadly we have to take the lesson from these little horror stories and be careful. What I usually do is to only post lower resolution images with my tiny logo on a corner and watermark commissions . But that is me ^^;. How is your patreon going? I am considering opening one in the future ^^;.

Art Theft is a problem in SL. because a lot of the customers have limited experience, and are from all over the world. add to that the onerous procedures to issue valid DMCA take down notices to Linden Lab, for the removal of copyrighted material, and their slow responses, make it rather difficult to police things, there. Some player from some part of the globe (not controlled by Red China), arrives on SL, speaking no English, and in walking around, discovers they have a furry fetish, and decides not only to get a furry AV, but also buy some art to hang on the wall of their paid account's free house? yeah they will probably buy the first quality images they see. Then you get copyright wars washing over the fashion industry periodically, and you can see why The L:indens are slow to respond to Copyright and "art Theft" notices. (For every in world transaction, Linden Lab gets a percentage, so even illegal goods profit them.) It's going to be a hassle

They make it as difficult and complicated as possible so no one even want to try to report anything :P. But then again, fashion copyright wars.... I can only imagine how much reports they used to get from hobbyist SL designers over fruits of their sunday past time being stolen. Come to think about it, they should have to same right as me to protect their work but who will investigate all this madness.
Oh yea, those guys selling furry art which I spotted probably weren't capable english speakers, just as you say... Nothing to do about it. Put a ton of watermarks on artworks or stop posting for free whatsoever.

Used to play SL years and YEEAAARS ago, saw popular artists on walls everywhere - Blotch, Rukis, Dark Natasha. And in marketplaces.

People don't care about copyright whatsoever.
