Dont need Visas or anything special to travel. It be like traveling to somewhere for vacation.
Living here would be different. You would need to sign documents and meet perquisites in living in the US.
But since you are only vacationing it, thats what you should only need besides monies.
You should talk to a travel agent about it on the website like Expedia or Travelocity etc to see what you would need,
and you can even get a travel package that can save you monies.
If you are staying at a friends house, you still can get a travel package that includes, Flight Tickets, Car Rental, and even travels insurance. Insurance is to cover your belongings in case they get damaged, lost or stolen during the flight. The insurance covers lots of things like laptops, phones, etc. Even if they are baddragon toys lol, they all cost something.
This is good when travelling to a Convention, it covers no matter what you are doing or going as long as you pick the right coverage. It can be as cheap as $25 but up to $300 depending but i saw some good coverage for $50. Theres LOTS of deals so do your research.
Good luck and do your research. Call an agent. They will help you answer all your questions.
If you don't qualify for ESTA then you'd probably need a VISA and that means going to the closest US embassy to where you live. If you need to get a VISA for tourism then you need a B1/B2 visa - that's the one I have (I'm from the UK but due to something which happened ages ago I have to get a VISA rather than use ESTA).
