Neurosurgery and my very messed up spine.
Whelp, the title is true. Last February 2017 I had a fall of some sort. It displaced slightly two vertebrae. About five months ago I woke up with no feeling in my left arm which scared me. Turns out I had to see a neurosurgeon after a long and grueling path full of doctors visits and medicine not working for pain which is still true. So in short, I will be having what is called ACDF surgery on May 7th. I am utterly petrified. I am relieved in a way because I can SEE the damage and finally have an answer to all of this suffering. It could have been many things but this is finally what it is. I have been off work for two months already. Unable to do anything lifting or rotating wise. I have a five pound weight limit which is challenging when you have a cute little 3 year old toddler running about all day saying Momma. I am also left handed which makes it even worse for me. I can not practice my art or write letters or anything. I can't drive unless its just into town quickly because i lose sensation in my arm and hand from the shoulder down. I is scared guys...I is scared. They will be taking bone from my hip as well for the surgery so its a 2 in 1....I am 27 years old and they're gonna poke around my spine...ugh.
Starting Monday I have about five appointments that I must go to to be poked and prodded and rested up and down and sideways to be cleared for this surgery. I LOATHE surgeries..hospitals and the like. It’s just not a good time for the Luka.
