Aggretsuko is Cancer

I'm not an animation snob, but how the fuck can anyone stand the janky cheap garbage that passes for it in this show? It's unbearably awful to watch, and that's not getting into how unbearable I find all of the characters. The show has all the charm of licking a toilet bowl (or something equally awful for people who are into that, I guess).
Just keep shoveling that shit down your gullets, furries!
Just keep shoveling that shit down your gullets, furries!
I checked out one of the shorts, the animation works a lot better in the shorts; the scenes don't linger, so your eyes don't have time to linger on the janky parts that are really evident when a whole scene takes that long. It just seems like someone made a really dumb decision to turn it into a cheaper, office-centred Bojack Horseman.
The other thing that bothers me is that I've noticed furries will latch onto anything in popular media, regardless of quality, if anthropomorphic characters are involved. I'm annoyed/worried about people buying into crap just because omg new husbando.
I'm also really irritated that despite blocking the tag on twitter I still end up with three posts of new husbando porn in a row just because people can't fucking tag their shit properly.
- Bojack Horseman is a much better reverse humour show (I'm not always up for reverse humour, but I do like it in small doses): the animation can be weird, but at least it's not distractingly janky, and the writing is really good.
- Pop Team Epic can have some fucking ugly animation at times, and I don't understand all of the references; it doesn't bother me, because the format of the show means it's constantly changing, and it's very clear from some of the shorts just how clever/creative the team behind it is.
- Neo Yokio is packed with unlikable characters, but it at least looks nice enough and is so... Jaden Smith twitter levels of what the fuck that I can enjoy what a mess it is.
- OK KO's animation isn't exactly tight or on-model, but it fits the goofy story line and the characters are likeable.
- The Amazing World of Gumball because that show is just fantastic.
Maybe it's unfair to compare Aggretsuko to these other shows, but I really don't care. The show doesn't do anything outstanding, or even well, and it's not even bad in the enjoyable way. The animation style isn't suited to a format where there's long scenes, and it looks cheap compared to its contemporaries. The characters are designed to be hated. The writing is bland. Maybe the show gets better, but if your first episode is that much of a chore to sit through, I'm amazed anyone did.
I would have forgotten all about it if both Netflix and furries weren't constantly shoving it in my face, like its some rancid poop I left on the carpet.
I thought maybe that it was because I didn't like reverse humour: I tried to find some examples online but Google wasn't great for searches for "reverse humour". So I thought about things with unlikable characters, and Bojack Horseman came to mind. Especially as that's also on Netflix. So I don't hate reverse humour in general.
I thought maybe it was that the animation style was annoying, but then I remembered Pop Team Epic and the Bob Epic Team shorts. Hell, that animation grew on me.
The only reason I bothered trying to watch the show was because
- furries were posting porn of their favourite husbandos
- I wanted to find something else to watch
so I thought I'd give it a go. Yeah, I didn't like it: there was nothing for me to like, and I refuse to like something just because it's tangentially related to furry.
You, however, have offered me no compelling reasons to keep on with the show, or to change my opinion on it, other than you like it.
Others at least got me to watch a few of the minute-ish length shorts, and like I said to them: I can see the show working in that format, but that's not what the Netflix show is.
Don't worry so much about it and let people enjoy it, even if it is bad. What I like about this community of ours is how accepting they can be. We all like something that someone hates, so we shouldn't be so quick to judge.
And it's not like I didn't try not to let this shit get to me. I blocked/muted all the terms and tags I could think of. Even if I excluded genuine typoes, my twitter/tumblr/FA still filled up with the latest popular trash like an overflowing garbage can. Wouldn't proper tagging help people who liked it as well?
Why should I live and let live when people are too lazy/stupid to avoid shoving their unwanted content into my face? If that's the type of people who like that show, then I feel perfectly fine in judging them.
