Question for you digital artists.

I've been looking at the different digital tablets available, (Wacom Cintiqs, Huion Kamvas, Yiynova...) and would like some recommendations. Mind you, I can't justify spending a grand on a Wacom Cintiq and I'm kinda balking at the price of even a refurbished Cintiq...
I just can't manage drawing on a tablet while looking at a monitor.
