I was Furry, before the fandom existed, since about 1968. :)

Yeah for me it was Road Rovers. honestly i had cartoon crushes beffore it but That was the show through i which irealised that A. I was really into cartoon anthro animals and B. That there as a fandom dedicated to both the show and the concept!

I must have watched that movie many many times as a kid.

I think they cost at $3 million or so each to make!
Plus they were doing the toons in Tex Avery's MGM styles too

I was 8! I remember not approving of the non-cartoon characters, but only mildly. I knew they were indispensable to the plot, but they were "boring humans." Even the animated humans were slightly annoying.

Yeah this was a pretty big movie for me. I've been a huge fan of Goofy since I was little and seeing Roger fanboy him like he did...I was 100% there. I felt like I was seeing a film by people who really 'got' why these characters are so special to people. In a way Roger was (and is) both a 'toon AND a furry. I think he connected with Eddie so well because Roger isn't just a 'toon. He's people, too. His heart of gold makes it so he's not just a silly character. He's got hopes and dreams and cares and despite how much he messes up those messes end up turning into good deeds. Roger is that spark of goodness that lies in the heart of all good but messed up in some way people. The light that guides us out of our darkness and keeps us being there for others for the sake of seeing smiles despite how often we get knocked down.

I love Roger and always will. Next to Mrs. Brisby, Goofy, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rarity, AppleJack, Spike and Pinkie Pie he's one of my hero's and main inspirations.

I loved that movie when I was a kid but that poor toon shoe that gets dipped will forever haunt me!

Never saw the movie in it's entirety. Decided I wanted to be like Loopy De Loop and Wile E. Coyote when I was three. (Actually thought the former was a more robust version of the latter who spoke funny.) Somehow, that desire became reality, thanks to the furry subjects on YouTube.

it's still uncool

I was a Furry before I even knew what a Furry was.
I always tried to find an excuse for my mom to make/ buy me a costume that always involved a tail, claws and ears. I even drew paw pads at the soles of my socks... then of course got in trouble for doing that. I was very interested in Anthro-related cartoons and movies. Werewolves fascinated me. And movies such as Ladyhawk caught my attention, with the concept of humans changing into animals. There was even a book series called Animorphs that caught my fancy for a time.

... and then they banged.

I had just turned 12 two days prior to that movie's release.... My, how time flies....

Luv that movie because it was a real thrill to see a LOT of my favorite toons all together in one big live-action/animation movie, especially in the finale ! Smile, darn ya, smile

Roger Rabbit was huge for me, but so was Cool World. Remember that one? What wasn't to like about Holly? Later on Balto lured me in to the fandom. I found the Furry Fandom through the old Yahoo Clubs; The Balto League back in 2001. I've always loved cartoons but the internet and chat rooms made it all so real for me.

Funny how that movie impacted so many things, like getting you into this, and in turn I met you and thought wow, that guy is so cool and funny, I wanna be like him. So I guess it influenced me indirectly. I am looking forward to seeing your posts.

"Roger Rabbit" has always been one of my favorite movies since childhood (and hey, I was born in 1988 as well!) For the 30th anniversary, I'm having the Big Bad Wolf review the official tie-in book-and-audio read-along, narrated by Charles Fleischer as Roger!
