Important Announcement

As of today, I am no longer selling Adoptions since my last batch got no buyers.
In the world of commissions, I only got one slot taken so far from a good friend of mine.
My friends are very surprised that despite the fact I have over 1600 watchers, (Yay me.), I rarely get any new commissioners or have my spots taken so fast like other artists do.
I don't know how they do that or I might just have bad luck in that sense.
There's so many reasons why I don't get a lot of commissioners recently like I used to in the past. It's just unfair to me.

Now I don't know if you use the same base each time with yours with minor edits or not, but repeated models can also make people not really want the characters.
Perhaps try branching out of your comfort zone and make single different adopts.
One of the pros of doing this is that it will feel more unique and also you can sell it for a higher price.
The other main thing is just to not get discouraged.
Giving up because one batch doesn't sell doesn't help your motivation or outlook on art.
Rather try to look at it as a learning experience so you can try something else later that is successful.
Character creation can be difficult and you may have to advertise or give frequent reminders so people so they don't forget that you're doing them, but when you do make successful ones its a nice feeling knowing people are willing to throw money at your face because they like your art. x)
The same basic concept applies towards commissions as well. Even though you can have your prices listed people sometimes will forgot or look over it simply because its not in their face and they're not thinking about it.
Posting reminders that your status is open and that you are taking commissions is a great way to get that kind of work flowing.
In short though try not to give up because of a few cruddy sales and keep looking forward to the goal that you want your art to be.
If you work for it then you'll reach it.
Best of Luck,
~GD.
In fact, the ones that uses the same base does sell out quicker. Trust me, I've seen it.
It's always times like these that I do get a spark of luck after I post these types of journals.
Makes it look more like pity then support in my mind. Just makes me think that drama draws more attention than plain announcements and reminders.
Everything does the exact opposite of what I have been trying to do and makes me not to rely on commissions no more.
I'm still doing art, but lost the passion in selling.
Though the price difference of selling per-say three to four adopts for $20-40 vs. one that can sell for $200-400 is better to me.
I can understand being discouraged as I've had my fair share of failed adopts, and equal slumps where I felt like not doing commissions due to failed sales and depression.
Though in my case it helped to reflect and take some time off to get into a better mind set. Whether that's doing personal art or just taking your mind off of it by doing other things for a while.
Advertising isn't very fun when it seems like people don't have money or are not buying.
Or those cases that they are, but noticing them buy more expensive adopts instead.. - (That always bums me out.)
Something you could try to do though is perhaps branch into other areas of interest; Such as offering bust shots of peoples characters, or take other artist's examples of what is working for them like YCHs - (NSFW) is popular, - (Especially on FA.) egg adopts, - (Those are fun!) I've noticed head shot adopts becoming more popular lately; Some even offer price tiers where if a certain amount is reached they can draw a full body version, etc., but those a few examples.

I hope you can get back into your groove though, I know it sucks when I get into that negative state of mind. x)
As for adoptions, I can do just headshots and just offer discounts if the winner wants a reference sheet of that character.
Point is, not many will see it most of the time.
I've done stuff like this for free that didn't go anywhere... Probably will try again though.
