The only people being pushed out are people who are promoting hate speech and who are condemning the LGBT community and otherwise being racist/bigoted/prejudiced. He's wrong about the whole Christian thing. I've been in the fandom since the early 2k's and the only religious people I've seen given shit were one's who were trying to condemn others. I get that a lot of people on the left take things to far but this all this guy is doing is trying to justify hateful people being portrayed as the 'real' victims.

I've never heard of people getting hate for religious reasons, as well (which doesn't mean that I can say it never happened)
Also probably neither of us does now of every single issue and detail about what happened, and I can't expect the admins to do so.
But I have good reasons to believe, that there have beem some casualties in that path.
I'm also pretty convinced that the majority of members of Alt-furry don't engage in hatespeech or bigotry - sure there are black sheeps.
I also want to say, that IMO separation and ghettoization is not a good idea to deal with issues, be it racism or be it just opinions that diverges from the mainstream (just to name both ends of the spectrum)

It's stupidity in general. Alt-furry was going to happen. Ever since Furry split from the sci-fi fandom there's been a small but loud core of ultra-conservatives along with ultra-liberals. Both groups are annoying but until now they've been harmless (for the most part). Now that the media and governments around the world have figured out how the internet works they've been using it to spread propaganda. This has helped cloud issues that should be easy enough to understand (bigotry, sexism and tyranny are bad, freedom of expression and liberty and compassion are good) and turned it into an 'everything must be us vs them' atmosphere.

I don't think most people in those groups are evil. I just think most of them are dumb and easily misled. Unfortunately you try saying, "It's OK-we're all dumb sometimes-what matters is you learn from your mistakes" and turned it into, "They *immediately assumes the person saying it to them is part of the group they dislike* think they're so much smarter and better than us so we have to double down on the stupid." There's really not a lot you can do but stick to people you trust, try to encourage people to be kind and hope that's enough to help.

If I'd speak up, it would be a message of peace and forgiveness, not pointed towards any one side solely.

When you enter certain buzzwords into the FA search, and look at the comments below of pertinent art, you will come to think about whether the staff is quite selective about hatespeech and encouraged violence and which side it leans towards.

Hate and hate-based violence has never done anyone any good. Hate is a construct of mankind fueled by envy, pride and fear - and eventually vengeance.
These feelings are natural and I can't blame anyone for having them, and they can be blinding. I just wish more people would reflect on their acting, experience these emotions consciously and question them, now and again. (and I man this in a general context)
