Thanks to the encouragement of a few certain individuals, I've finally gone and began the process of adding small pieces of backstory to my individual posts. All images in my Gallery at this time are updated with text that give some context to Athyn and his past, however, they are by no means comprehensive. I intend to continue adding lore as I get art and also mean to compose coherent chunks into journals or short stories.Through this and illustrations from various artists I hope to establish Athyn and the Karo-Amu to be the fleshed-out sci-fi species I've always wanted them to be. This process will take time, but until then I'll continue uniformly formatting my posts and offering more as I go on. Thank you for reading, and if you're so inclined I'll be happy to answer questions regarding Karo history to the best of my ability!
What made you want to create the Karu-amo species? Any inspirations? And what do you mean by "Fleshed-out sci-fi species I've always wanted them to be" Are you meaning as in you are trying to make them an open species for people to create and expand upon as Karo-Amo? It would be really cool to see people be a part of that culture and species type. Or do you mean fleshing them out in terms of backstory, similar to Athyn? I'm genuinely curious as I've always found Athyn to be genuinely cool looking and a great idea and something new!
1. The Karo-Amu were originally a small idea to take the concepts and ideas I like about aliens and sci-fi creatures/monsters and put it all together into a single entity that I could build off of. They take a lot of inspiration from many sources and are basically just everything I like about aliens and monsters as they are portrayed in media. I came to love the idea and dynamic of them being apex predators and overall powerful creatures, but with a leaning towards more peaceful encounters to contrast with their instinctual affinity for violence and hunting.
2, As for your second question, I've had a good friend of mine show interest in creating a Karo. but I really haven't considered them ever being enough of a thing to be an open species, I mostly just want to have an interesting story to tell, but if there was ever a demand or interest I'd likely set it up to be an open species so that people enjoy themselves without having to steal them and put a different label on it.
And I have an interest in making a Karo as well, they are definitely cool! If you were to make them an open species, I'm sure a lot of people would love them. Just like Sergals and stuff ^^
