A friend of mine is in a bad money situation. Commissions?

A really, really good friend of mine recently revealed to us that she is going through some major financial trouble at the moment. She’s been a good friend for a long time and I really want to help out, but at the moment I just don’t have the means to help her out.
My roommate suggested setting up a Ko-fi account, setting it up with said friend’s PayPal, and drawing something for the people that work with it.
But I’m really, really not sure on this idea just yet. I won’t mind doing Ko-fi requests, but I’m more concerned that the idea might not work out too well. I also thought of doing commissions, but I'd need to think it over.
I don’t know what to do. Should I take any of these ideas to heart, or try something else to help?

If anything though maybe commissions wouldn't be such a bad idea or maybe some YCH group commissions to help raise funds or to have the group commissions for those that help donate in the Kofi.
Either way I wish the best for her
