Now this is some bullshit

So I'm looking for work over the summer but nobody wants to hire me. (NOT what this particular rant is about, but I could talk at length on it.)
My mom's been trying to help me find opportunities. Somebody she works with knows somebody at a Panera's location in town. I put an app in, and had an interview scheduled for today.
But that's when shit hit the fan.
Was set to arrive on time for the interview when I saw a firetruck race past on the street ahead. Lo and behold, something was going down that required the road to be blocked off. Several other drivers along with myself had to navigate through a veritable maze of suburbs to get past it, finding even more blocked streets there.
I finally got to the place maybe five minutes past the set time and let an employee know I was there for an interview. They asked me to take a seat and said they'd let the person know I was there.
She was nice enough for the first few seconds, introduced herself, asked me if I was the one she was scheduled to be interviewing, etc., then told me the interview was off because I was a few minutes late. I tried to explain that there was some sort of fire or accident just down the street that had a number of roads blocked off, making it harder to get to the place. She didn't give a hoot for anything I had to say, just restating that I was late, the interview was off, and that lateness reflected negatively on employees.
Now, what do you think was going through my head at the time?
Note to self: Next time drive THROUGH firetrucks and roadblocks.

If people are going to be rude and overbearing as an INTRODUCTION, it will only go downhill from there.
No shop, certainly not a bread shop, has no authority on emergency situations or all things about a person's life.
Some people get that promotion and then become so entitled, so full of themselves, that they for the life of them can't understand these things.
If they're giving you that much crud over just 5 minutes, they probably didn't want employees anyway.
Sorry. Just... I've seen this crud happen a little too often, especially lately.
I shouldn't rant on about stuff on another person's page. Sorry for that.
I do hope you're able to find something soon.
Similarly, I actually walked out of a potential "job" today too. There's a dank sports bar that I was told was looking for cooks. Owner was shadier than a beach umbrella and about as organized as an active tornado. Long story short, NOPE.
At the very least I've got an interview at a better place in a few days, but if I'm REALLY lucky I'll get a call from the grocery store I applied to.
