Details of my life, also COMMISSIONS FINALLY OPEN!!
So there was this one time.... Hello everyone! I know it's been a while, and I'm not even sure how many people actively follow me anymore, but I just wanted to give everyone an update and let everyone know that I'M FINALLY GOING TO OPEN COMMISSIONS!! It's been a long time coming, but now more than ever I need to. This is going to be long, so if you need a TL;DR, just scroll on to the bottom.
So for those that don't follow my twitter account (@LunaServal), last year I was in a major car accident that totaled my Kia Sportage that I'd had for a few years. I was driving home from a celebratory dinner after proposing to my boyfriend, when we were slammed from behind by a driver who was high on a narcotic of some kind (he refused a blood/urine test, so we never found out what) and was trying to make it to an exit while speeding. We careened into the guardrail and hit it head on, the car spun 180 degrees, and hit the guardrail again from behind before coming to a stop. Thankfully there were no major external injuries except some bruising, but we sustained concussions, whiplash, and several bulged and herniated discs in our spines that has led to chronic nerve pain. My fiance was put out of work due to the pain he was experiencing, but after six months of his job holding on to his position in the hope that he would be healed enough to return, they had to let him go because he's still experiencing pain. I myself of course am retired and going to school full time, so I didn't have to worry about anything like that. As long as I'm going to school, I get an extra allowance from the VA on top of my regular VA disability check that sustained us.
Everything was going pretty alright, until this past month. I was slotted to take some summer classes, but due to low enrollment in said classes they got cancelled. My fiance has applied for state disability after being fired 7 months ago, but paperwork got lost or fell to the wayside at our attorney's office, so it hasn't even been started yet. Which means without that extra income I get from the VA, our bills eat up the basic paycheck I get. Our rent and electricity got jacked up, which doesn't help our already tight situation, and on top of that my cat Athena's food allergies are flaring back up, which means I need to get her specialized food that is much more expensive than what I'd been feeding her in the past. We managed to get her some of the canned prescription food before we ran out of money, but it isn't keeping her belly full, and I also don't want her teeth to deteriorate.
This is what has worked for her in the past. However, I have read positive reviews about this food, as well as reviews saying it's a cheaper alternative that works just as well
I'm almost embarrassed to say, but we've also applied for food stamps. We just had a phone interview last Friday, but I don't know how much they are going to give us. Their website application estimated $38, which...I'm not sure if that's weekly or monthly? We are vegan now though, and as we all know, it's much more expensive to be healthy (which doesn't even make sense to me...but let me not get started on that).
TL;DR
So, long story short: We are broke. I literally have next to nothing to my name. Neither me nor my fiance can work from chronic pain issues related to the car accident. I need to make money to feed my small family. We even sold our second car to make some cash, but between bills, groceries, gas to get to doc appointments, and my cat's food issue, it's already gone. I won't get my extra VA allowance until October, which leaves these next two months looking bleak.
Shortly after publishing this, I will upload a submission with commission prices and how you can reach me to get one. I also have a Ko-fi account, if you're interested in helping but not so much wanting to commit to a full commission. Find it here!! Any donation of at least $6 will get you a colored headshot sketch similar to this (just send me a note with screenshot proof and a ref): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/27862261/
Thank you so much for reading this, and I hope to start drawing for customers soon!
